Objective: Evaluation of TFF3 immunohistochemical expression by tumor cells in non-small cell lung carcinoma and to correlate TFF3 immunohistochemical expression with other available clinico-pathologic variables. Methods: A total of 43 formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded non-small cell lung carcinoma tissue sections were randomly collected (28 ADC, 12 SCC, 3LCC). All the available data were collected from the patients` reports. Subset of cases were reported to be ADC using TTF1, CK7 and Napsin A and 23 cases were previously examined for ALK IHC expression. The paraffin blocks were sectioned and stained with hematoxylin and eosin stains for histological reassessment. Additional sections were immunostained with TFF3. Cytoplasmic staining was assessed using a semi-quantitative method by multiplication of extent and intensity of staining. Results: Most of the current study patients were males 93% and the majority of cases (81.4%) aged 50 years old. TFF3 immunohistochemical expression was positive in 100% of studied ADC and LCC while it was negative in 83.3% of SCC. A statistically significant relationship was detected between TFF3 IHC in tumor cells and NSCLC type (P value 0.001*). However, no statistically significant relationships were detected between TFF3 IHC expression and tumor grade, age or sex.TFF3 was positively expressed in all nodal and metastatic cases
