Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Architectural Engineering
Building Information Modeling (BIM) changed the way of thinking since its first appearance in the 1970s. BIM not only changes the way of how information is generated but also how information is managed and communicated through project stakeholders. In-addition to the recognized benefits of BIM, perceived barriers are restricting its adoption. Despite the variable applications and models of how BIM can be adopted, this thesis will conduct a literature review, analyzing international guidelines for the proper way of implementing BIM. Upon this review of more than 37 well established and recognized guidelines worldwide, a framework is proposed to establish a more practical and applicable procedure for BIM, to support the construction industry in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region
