One of the main problems facing anaesthetists during anaesthesia of pediatric patients with congenital heart disease is delayed gastric emptying which may contribute to pulmonary aspiration. Our study included 35 paediatric patients with congenital heart diseases, where we used gastric ultrasound in estimating the gastric volume. The calculated volumes by ultrasound were compared to the volumes aspirated from the stomach of patients under general anaesthesia. There was a strong positive relationship between the injected volume in nasogastric tube and volume estimated by ultrasound with Pearsons correlation coefficient (r) of 0.799
