Dentin hypersensitivity is a common and painful dental condition. Where a short, sharp pain arising from exposed dentin in response to different stimuli, that pain cannot be ascribed to any other form of dental defect or pathology.Using a toothpaste that may reduce the pain of sensitivity is usually the first chosen solution by the patient. Several dentifrices with different active ingredients are available with no gold standard treatment modality for dentine hypersensitivity has been yet established The aim of the study was to clinically evaluate toothpaste containing 8% arginine, in comparison to toothpaste, containing 8% strontium acetate on the relief of DH in chronic periodontitis patients as among these patients DH prevalence is notably higher.46patients (19 females and 27males, aged 25-45 years) participated in this study with slight to moderate chronic periodontitis diagnosed according to criteria presented by the American Academy of Periodontology 2000 and with at least 2 teeth presenting hypersensitive areas.The patients were randomly assigned to one of two groups (Strontium toothpaste group I and Arginine toothpaste group II). In both groups after inclusion all patients had the following clinical parameters Plaque index (PLI), Gingival index (GI), Probing pocket depth (PPD), Clinical attachment level (CAL) recorded for all teeth present and set as baseline clinical parameters.Then all patients received full mouth mechanical debridement
