Thesis (M.Sc) - Cairo University - Faculty of Science - Department of Physics
The aim of this work is to study structural, thermal, dielectric properties and conductivity of new organic-inorganic hybrids. Results were acquired for two different alkylene-diammonium divalent metal hybrids with chemical formula [(CH₂) (NH₃ )₂ ]MCl₄ . The first has n=7 and M= Ca²⁺ (non-magnetic alkaline earth element), and the second has longer chain n=8 and M=Co²⁺ (a magnetic ion). Powder X-ray diffraction of Ca-hybrid indicated a monoclinic structure (sp.gp. Pm) with a=4.625 , b= 11.205 , c= 12.391 and Ý= 86.82 o, Z= 2, d= 1.63 gm/cm³, V= 641.2 ³. Co-hybrid revealed a triclinic system (sp.gp. P1) with a = 8.368 , b = 12.888 , c = 15.045 and Ü=97.56, Ý= 86.82, Þ=89.82, Z=4, d=1.44 gm/cm³, V= 1597.3³. Thermal measurements showed five phase transitions in the temperature range (260 K-330 K) for Ca and three for Co-hybrid in the temperature range (300 K-420 K). These transitions are reflected in the dielectric behavior
