The present study introduces an integrated approach to determine low resistivity pay from conventional apparent resistivity measurements and lithology logs. This was achieved considering two main concepts; separating apparent resistivity in Rh and Rv using Moran and Gianzero (1979) formula and calculating sand resistivity using sand - shale resistivity connections (parallel and series connections). For R sand calculations, a series of equations were analyzed and related to define a formula that calculates R sand resistivity from Rh, Rv and shale resistivity then Archie equation was applied to calculate water saturation using the obtained sand resistivity values and subsequently plotted versus the conventionally calculated values. Such comparison between both estimated water saturation values can successfully identify numerous pay intervals concealed by the effect of low resistivity reservoir
