This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of resin infiltration (Icon) versus MI paste plus (casein phospho-peptide amorphous calcium phosphate with fluoride) on the surface microhardness and color changes of demineralized white spot enamel lesions. A total of 10 caries free, human third molars were used in this study. The mesial and distal surfaces of each tooth were sectioned in four fragments, two from the mesial and two from the distal. The crown was then separated from the root and the four fragments were adjusted into a standardized size and placed in a resin block with the enamel surface exposed and parallel to the base of the mold. To induce a demineralized white spot enamel lesion, the samples were immersed in a demineralizing solution with a 4.5 pH for 72 hours at 35 C. One of the fragments was covered with an adhesive tape and acid resistant nail varnish before immersion in order to act as a control for sound enamel. Both treatments were applied according to the manufacturer instructions. Icon resin Infiltrant(DMG, America) was applied on the distal right surface and MI paste plus (GC Int., Tokyo, Japan) was applied on the distal left surface. Icon resin Infiltrant was applied in three consecutive steps; Icon Etch (15% hydrochloric acid), Icon Dry (99 % ethanol) and finally Icon Infiltrant which is light cured for 60 seconds, followed by the application of a second layer of the Infiltrant and light curing
