Hypertension affects approximately one billion individual worldwide, it is associated with an elevated risk of mortality and morbidity and it has a negative impact on quality of life.Occurrence of hypertension is very high in adults; so there is a great need for development of non-oral way for drug application is currently the most important approach. Bisoprolol Hemifumarate (BH) is a member of beta-blockers group. This is a class of drugs used mainly in cardiovascular diseases. It is a selective beta-1 receptor blocker that significantly decreases high blood pressure, treats reduced blood flow to the heart (cardiac ischemia) by reducing heart muscle activity, so decreases oxygen and nutrient demand i.e. low blood supply can transport required amounts of oxygen and nutrients CHF and decreases recurrence of heart attacks. BH has several advantages such as good tolerability and decreases sodium currents in CHF also have anti-arrhythmic effects. This study aims to develop a new dosage form of BH for treatment of elderly patients using transdermal delivery systems since BH can be used in transdermal application due to its apparent partition coefficient of 4.07 which indicates good skin permeability
