One of the main factors contributing for post-induction hypotension is the preoperative volume status. However, accurate assessment of volume status is sometimes challenging. The indices for volume status which are acceptable in modern medical practice depends on either preload challenge, which is not feasible in the preoperative setting, or heart-lung interaction indices such as inferior vena caval variation and pulse pressure variation. (5)(6) IVC variation was previously reported by Zhang and colleagues as a predictor for post-induction hypotension. However, this technique had some limitations such as: time consumption, the need to ultrasound machine, and the need for trained physician. (7)
