Determination of the fetal kidneys is an essential part of an obstetric ultrasound. Accurate information regarding kidney size is crucial to identify kidney abnormalities and detect changes in fetal kidney growth. Ultrasound imaging is safe, cost effective and widely available to evaluate fetal kidney size, echotexture, and perfusion. A variety of two and three-dimensional ultrasound techniques have emerged and advanced to evaluate kidney development. The volume of irregularly shaped objects can be more precisely estimated by use of 3D US than through 2D US as the fetal kidney is not a perfect ellipse and an accurate estimate of the fetal renal volume can be useful to evaluate kidney function. This is a cross-sectional analytic study included a total of 60 preeclamptic women who were admitted to Obstetrics and Gynecology Department (Cairo University) during the period from July to December 2019.
