40 SLE patients , without symptoms referable to the hip , and receiving a minimum of 5 mg / day prednisone for 6 months were screened by MRI for avascular necrosis of the hipMedical records were reviewed for serologic and clinical variables that might predict AVNMRI was repeated after 6 monthsThe aim of the work was to study the natural history of asymptomatic AVN of the hip in SLE , to identify clinical and imaging factors that might be associated with it , and to correlate hip involvement to various parameters of disease activity in SLE
