| Summary, etc. | تتناول هذه الرسالة دور جنس الماعز فى حضارات الشرق الأدنى ، وتهدف الى استعراض دور الماعز والوعل فى النشاط الاقتصادي ومعتقداته الدينية ، حيث أهتم انسان الشرق الأدنى بصيد الوعل منذ عصور ما قبل التاريخ بغرض الرزق واستمر صيده فى العصور التالية كتعبير عن الجانب الرياضي للملك وأيضا للنبلاء ، وأهتم بإحضار كلا من المعز والوعول ضمن الجزية والهدايا المقدمة لمصر وبلاد الرافدين وايران من البلاد الأجنبية ، و أثر فى معتقداته الدينية فربط بينه وبين الديانة القمرية حيث اعتبر قرن الوعل المعقوف للخلف و شبه الدائري وظهور حلقات غليظة عليه تنمو سنويا كرمز للدورة القمرية ، وكانت إلهة معزية تسمى عررت تساعد الملك المتوفى فى متون الأهرام في معرفة دروب العالم الأخر وتتميز قرون الوعل بتجويف طبيعى فاستخدمه في مصر وايران والعراق وسوريا كإناء الحفظ المراهم العطرية وفى صناعة الأقواس المركبة واستخدم جلد الماعز في العراق في صناعة الاكلاك وفي جميع حضارات الشرق الدنى لصناعة الخيام سواء للبدو او كمقصورة للمتوفى في مصر ، و استخدم الرعاة والمزارعون قرب المياه المصنوعة من جلد الماعز كما استخدم شعر (وبر) الماعز في صناعة حشو للوسائد والمراتب وفى صناعة الحبال والخيوط ، وكان يعتقد في العراق وايران والاناضول بمبدأ البديل الحيواني فكان يقدم جدى للعفريت وللأرواح لاسترضائها لكي تترك جسم المريض فيشفى ، كما استخدم كبد الماعز في العرافة والتنبؤ بالمستقبل ، ورمزوا للإله إنكى / ايا بمخلوق مركب من رأس والجذع العلوى لتيس وجسد ذيل سمكة واعتبره البابليون رمز لبرج الجدي الذي انتقل بعد ذلك الى البروج الفلكية المصرية، واهتموا برصد الشروق والغروب النجمى لبرج الجدي واقترانه بكواكب أخرى كوكب عطارد، كما اهتموا برصد كوكبة الماعز التي انتشرت في العرافة الفلكية في بلاد الشام. |

| Summary, etc. | This thesis deals with the role of the capra genus in the civilizations of the Near East, and aims to review the role of goats and ibex in economic activity and in religious beliefs of Near Eastern societies, as the Near East man was interested in hunting ibex since prehistoric times for the purpose of livelihood and continued hunting in the following ages as an iconographic representation of the sporting aspect of the king and also for the nobles. He was interested in bringing both goats and ibex as part of the tribute and gifts offered to Egypt, Mesopotamia and Iran from foreign countries, and it affected his religious beliefs by linking it with the lunar religion. A deity called ’rrt helped the deceased king in the pyramid texts in knowing the paths of the other world. The antlers are characterized by a natural cavity, so they were used in Egypt, Iran, Iraq and Syria as a container for preserving aromatic ointments and in the manufacture of compound bows. Goats’ skin was used in Iraq in the manufacture of boats and in all civilizations of the Near East for the manufacture of tents, whether for Bedouins or as a cabin for the deceased in Egypt. Shepherds and farmers used water bags made from Goat skin. He used goat hair in the manufacture of fillings for pillows and mattresses, and in the manufacture of ropes and threads. In Iraq, Iran and Anatolia, the principle of animal alternative was believed, so he presented a he goat to the demon and to the spirits to appease them in order to leave the patient’s body and heal, as he used goat liver in divination and prediction of the future, and they symbolized The god Enki/Ea a creature composed of the head and upper torso of a goat and the body of a fish’s tail. The Babylonians considered it as a symbol of Capricorn, which then moved to the Egyptian astrological signs, and they were interested in observing the stellar rise and set of Capricorn and its association with other planets, the planet Mercury. They were also interested in observing the constellation of Lyra, which spread in astrological divination in the Levant |
