| Summary, etc. | The aim of this study was to assess the effect of using the transconjunctival approach alone versus using the transconjunctival approach together with lateral canthotomy in terms of esthetics in orbital fractures.<br/>The study included 50 patients (25 for each group) with history of orbital fractures . patients were 32 males and 18 females.<br/>Patients were selected from the outpatient clinic of the oral and maxillofacial department, faculty of Oral and Dental medicine, Cairo university and diagnosed on clinical examination and a thorough medical and dental history.<br/>The selected subjects were divided into two equal groups:<br/>Group1: including 25 patients, each underwent a transconjunctival surgery with no lateral canthotomy.<br/>Group 2: including 25 patients, each underwent a transconjunctival surgery with a lateral canthotomy.<br/>Baseline data were collected including accessibility according to a good,moderate or excellent VAS, pain according to a patient and a surgeon VAS (1-10) with 1 as least pain and 10 as maximum, and esthetics patient and surgeon VAS(1-10) with 1 as least esthetically accepted and 10 as most esthetically accepted.<br/>Data were collected immediately post-op, the after 3 weeks then after 3 months post-operatively.<br/>Analysis of the results from this study revealed that by the end of the 12 weeks interval that the measurements of both groups were greatly improved achieving high success rates. However, higher success rates were seen in the lateral canthotomy in regards to esthetics and accessibility compared to the transconjunctival group alone.<br/> |

| Summary, etc. | صممت هدة الدراسة الحاليه لتقييم استخدام نهج الملتحمه العابر وحده مقابل استخدام نهج الملتحمه العابر مع الموقي الجانبي من حيث الحاله التجميليه لكسور عظام العين..( تجربة اكلينيكية عشوائيه) تم اختيار خمسون مريض يعانون من كسور عظام العين من العيادة الخارجية لقسم جراحة الفم والوجه والفكين، كلية طب الأسنان - جامعة القاهرة للمشاركة في هذه الدراسة.تم تقسيم جميع المرضى بصورة عشوائية إلى مجموعتين متساويتين:<br/>المجموعة الاولى: بما في ذلك 25 مريضا ، كل منهم خضع لعملية جراحية عبر الملتحمة مع عدم وجود شق جانبي.<br/>المجموعة الثانية: بما في ذلك 25 مريضا ، كل منهم خضع لعملية جراحية عبر الملتحمة مع شق جانبي للقنطرة.<br/>تمجمعبياناتخطالأساسبمافيذلكإمكانيةالوصولوفقًالقيمةVASجيدةأومتوسطةأوممتازة،والألموفقًالمريضوجراحVAS (1-10) مع 1 لأقلألمو 10 كحدأقصى،ومريضجماليوجراحVAS (1-10) ) مع 1 كأقلقبولجماليًاو 10 كأقلقبولجماليًا.<br/>تم جمع البيانات مباشرة بعد العملية ، بعد 3 أسابيع ثم بعد 3 أشهر بعد الجراحة.<br/>أظهر تحليل نتائج هذه الدراسة أنه بحلول نهاية فترة الـ 12 أسبوعًا ، تحسنت قياسات كلا المجموعتين بشكل كبير وتحقيق معدلات نجاح عالية. ومع ذلك ، شوهدت معدلات نجاح أعلى في بضع القناني الجانبي فيما يتعلق بالجمال وإمكانية الوصول مقارنة بمجموعة عبر الملتحمة وحدها.<br/> |
