The thesis aims to formulate a model that explores the relationship between the university’s identity, its architectural design and the perceived campus image. It also aims to investigate the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on this model. The thesis aims to analyze the declared identity of new Egyptian universities. To formulate the hypothesis of the relational model, the research started with literature review of physical and non-physical variables related to university’s organizational and visual identity. The thesis also reviewed the literature related to the impact of the pandemic on identity. An online questionnaire targeting academic leaders, practitioners and students was conducted to identify the relative importance and relationships of the selected variables of university’s identity pre- and post-COVID-19 pandemic. Two applications were used to test the research hypothesis. Firstly, a content analysis of the new Egyptian universities’ identities was used to track the correlation between the selected variables based on information accessible on universities’ websites. Secondly, university architectural projects of future architects were analyzed using the model to investigate the gaps between design intentions and final designs of a university . The study revealed that the most important physical variables of university’s new identity pre- and post-pandemic are technological infrastructure and flexible design, while the least important is university’s unique design. The design principles to keep pace with the current paradigm shift in universities’ identity are providing informal learning spaces, active circulation, multidisciplinary spaces and blended learning spaces. The results highlighted that universities need to revisit the declared identity to reflect the new challenges. This study links the physical and non-physical variables of university’s new identity. The current study contributes to transform conceptual framework of university’s new identity to a measurable relational model. |

يهدف البحث إلى تصميم نموذج لاستكشاف العلاقة بين الهوية الجديدة للجامعة وتصميمها المعماري وصورة الحرم الجامعي المتصورة. كما يهدف إلى التحقيق في تأثير جائحة COVID-19 على هذا النموذج. يهدف البحث أخيرًا إلى تحليل الهوية المعلنة للجامعات المصرية الجديدة. لصياغة فرضية نموذج رصد العلاقة، بدأ البحث بالأدبيات المتعلقة بالمتغيرات المادية وغير المادية لهوية الجامعة (الهوية التنظيمية والبصرية) وتأثير الوباء على هويتها. بعد ذلك، تم إجراء استبيان عبر الإنترنت يستهدف القادة الأكاديميين والمصممين الممارسين والطلاب لتحديد الأهمية النسبية للمتغيرات المختارة لهوية الجامعة قبل وبعد الجائحة وعلاقتها. تم استخدام تطبيقين لاختبار فرضية البحث. أولاً ، تم استخدام تحليل محتوى هوية الجامعات المصرية الجديدة لتتبع الارتباط بين متغيرات البحث من خلال المعلومات المتاحة على مواقع الجامعات. ثانيًا ، تم تحليل المشاريع المعمارية الجامعية للمعماريين المستقبليين في الجامعة باستخدام النموذج لاستكشاف الفجوات بين نوايا التصميم والتصاميم النهائية للجامعة. كشفت الدراسة أن أهم المتغيرات المادية للهوية الجديدة للجامعة قبل وبعد الجائحة هي البنية التحتية التكنولوجية والتصميم المرن ، في حين أن التصميم الفريد للجامعة هو الأقل أهمية. لمواكبة التغيرات الحالية في هوية الجامعات، يجب ان يتوفر في تصميم الجامعة مساحات تعليمية غير رسمية وممرات حيوية وفراغات متعددة التخصصات وفراغات تعلم مدمجة. أبرزت النتائج أن الجامعات بحاجة إلى إعادة النظر في الهوية المعلنة لتعكس التحديات الجديدة. تربط هذه الدراسة المتغيرات المادية وغير المادية لهوية الجامعة الجديدة. تساهم الدراسة الحالية في تحويل الإطار المفاهيمي للهوية الجديدة للجامعة إلى نموذج لرصد العلاقة قابل للقياس.<br/><br/> |
