| Summary, etc. | Background: Neurodynamic mobilization is a part of the management of patients with carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) that aims at increasing their median nerve excursion and flexibility.<br/>Purpose: This study was designed to determine the effect of adding ipsilateral neck rotation or neck flexion to the standard median neurodynamic test1 technique (MNT1). <br/>Methods: Ten CTS patients (eighteen wrists), and eleven asymptomatic participants (twenty-one wrists) were enrolled in this study. Their age ranged from 25 to 50 years. Median nerve excursion was examined using Ultrasonography (US) at the wrist during standard MNT1 and modified techniques where ipsilateral rotation or flexion were performed.<br/>Results: No significant difference between standard MNT1 and modified MNT1 techniques within CTS and asymptomatic groups (P>0.05). Further, median nerve excursion showed no significantly difference between CTS patients and asymptomatic participants during different techniques (P<0.05).<br/>Conclusion: Adding neck ipsilateral rotation or neck flexion to MNT1 is not different from the standard MNT1 mobilization with regards to median nerve excursion in patients and controls. Further, median nerve mobility is similar in patients with mild/moderate CTS and asymptomatic participants during the MNT1 technique and its modifications.<br/> |

| Summary, etc. | خلفية: تُعد الحركة الديناميكية العصبية جزءًا من تقييم وعلاج مرضى متلازمة النفق الرسغي.<br/>الطريقة: صممت هذه الدراسة لتحديد تأثير إضافة دوران الرقبة بالإتجاه المماثل أو إنحناء الرقبه الأمامي على نتائج الإختبار القياسي الديناميكي للعصب الوسيط ١. تم إدراج أصحاء و مرضى متلازمة النفق الرسغي العظمي إذا تراوحت أعمارهم بين ٢٥ و ٥٠ سنة. تم فحص نزوح العصب المتوسط عند الرسغ بواسطة الموجات فوق الصوتية أثناء الإختبارالقياسي الديناميكي للعصب الوسيط وبعد إضافة دوران الرقبه بالإتجاه المماثل للعصب أو إنحناء الرقبه الأمامي لتقنية الإختبار القياسي الديناميكي للعصب الوسيط ١.<br/>النتائج: أظهرت الدراسه عدم وجود فرق ذو دلالة إحصائية بين حركة العصب الوسطي أثناء الإختبار القياسي الديناميكي للعصب الوسيط ١ الأصلي و بعد إضافة دوران العنق المماثل لإتجاه العصب أو إنحناء الرقبه الأمامي. وأظهر عدم اختلاف متوسط نزوح العصب بين المشاركين الأصحاء ومرضى متلازمة النفق الرسغي.<br/>الإستنتاج: إضافة الدوران المماثل للرقبة أو إنحناء الرقبه الأمامي لا يؤثر على حركة العصب المتوسط ١ أكثر من الوضع القياسي. علاوة على ذلك، لايختلف متوسط حركة العصب بين المرضى الذين يعانون من متلازمة النفق الرسغي الخفيف / المعتدل والمتطوعين الأصحاء أثناء وضع الإختبار القياسي الديناميكي للعصب الوسيط وإضافة دوران الرقبه المماثل أو انحناء الرقبه الأمامي له.<br/> |
