| Summary, etc. | This study was carried out to investigate the effect of phonophoresis on Carpal tunnel<br/>syndrome during pregnancy. Thirty pregnant women in the third trimester suffering<br/>from carpal tunnel syndrome participated in this study. They were selected randomly<br/>from Tiba Speacialized Hospital in Tanta. Their ages were ranged from 22-35 years<br/>old, their body mass index didn’t exceed 30 kg/m2and their parity was ranged from 2-<br/>4 children. All patients were divided randomly into two equal groups in number.<br/>study Group(A):This group was consisted of 15 patients. Each patient in this group<br/>had received phonophoresis on her wrist joint of her dominant hand for 10 mins,<br/>3times per week for (4 weeks). Also each patient was asked to wear a cock up splint<br/>at night throughout the treatment course to keep her wrist in the neutral position. In<br/>the same time , each patient was asked to perform some active free strengthening<br/>exercises for her hand and fingers in elevation without bending her wrist joint, for 30<br/>mins, 3times/week for 4 weeks. Additionally to this ,the patient was advised to avoid<br/>or reduce all activities that cause her wrist to bend.<br/>Control Group(B):This group was consisted of 15 patients. Each patient in this group<br/>was asked to wear acock up splint at night throughout the treatment course to keep<br/>her wrist in neutral position. In the same time , each patient was asked to perform the<br/>same strengthening exercises for her affected hand and fingers as in group (A), for 30<br/>mins/3 times/week for 4 weeks. Also, each patient was advised to avoid or reduce all<br/>activities that cause her wrist to bend.<br/>The evaluation procedures were done for all patients in both groups (A&B)before<br/>and after treatment course using visual analogue scale and measuring distal latency<br/>and conduction velocity of the median nerve by EMG apparatus. The results showed<br/>that there was highly statistically significant decrease in visual analoug scale as well<br/>as there is statistically significant decrease in distal latency of sensory and motor<br/>branch of median nerve and there is statistically significant increase in conduction<br/>velocity of sensory and motor branch of median nerve in both groups (A&B) showed<br/>after treatment course. But, percentage of decrease in pain sensation,decrease in<br/>distal latency and increase of conduction velocity was more pronounced and<br/>markedly higher in group (A) who treated by phonophoresis ,exercises and cock up<br/>splint than group (B)who treated by exercises and cock up splint.<br/>It could be concluded that phonophoresis was more effective to treat carpal tunnel<br/>syndrome during pregnancy |

| Summary, etc. | أجريت هذه الدراسة لأثبات فعالية على متلازمة اختناق العصب الأوسط في فترة ما بعد الولادة. شارك في هذه الدراسة 30مريضة اللاتي تعانين من متلازمة اختناق العصب الأوسط. وقد تم اختيارهن عشوائيا من مستشفى دمياط التخصصي. تراوحت أعمارهن بين 22-35 سنة ومؤشر كتلة الجسم لهن لم يتجاوز 30 كجم/ م2. تم تقسيم المشاركات إلى مجموعتين متساويتين، المجموعة(أ) والمجموعة (ب):<br/>المجموعة (أ):<br/> تتكون من 15 مريضة تلقت كل مريضة في هذه المجموعة ماده الكيتوبروفين المدخلة بواسطه الموجات الصوتية بتردد 3ميجا هرتز وشدة 2-1. 5 واط لكل متر مربع لمدة 10 دقيقة، 3 مرات/ أسبوعًا لمدة 4 أسابيع. أيضًا، طُلب من كل مريضة ارتداء ساند رسغ طوال فترة العلاج الذي تم ضبطه بزاوية محايدة في الليل مع عمل تمارين لعضلات اليد. <br/>المجموعة (ب):<br/> تتكون من 15 مريضا.، طُلب من كل مريضة ارتداء ساند رسغ طوال فترة العلاج الذي تم ضبطه بزاوية محايدة في الليل. مع عمل تمارين لعضلات اليد. <br/>أثبتت نتائج الدراسة الآتي:<br/>أظهرت نتائج الدراسة الحالية أن كلا المجموعتين أظهرت انخفاضًا في الإحساس بالألم بعد العلاج، وحققت المجموعة (أ) 78. 55٪ بينما حققت المجموعة (ب) 24. 29٪ لكن نسبة الانخفاض في مقياس النظير البصري كانت أكثر وضوحًا واعلى بشكل ملحوظ في المجموعة (أ) بالمقارنة مع المجموعة (ب). <br/>أظهرت نتائج الدراسة الحالية أن كلا المجموعتين أظهرت انخفاضًا في الإحساس بالألم بعد العلاج، وحققت المجموعة (أ) 64. 02٪ بينما حققت المجموعة (ب) 16. 46٪ ولكن كانت نسبة الزيادة في سرعه توصيل العصب أكثر وضوحًا واعلي بشكل ملحوظ في المجموعة (أ) بالمقارنة مع المجموعة (ب). <br/>الخلاصة<br/>اثبتت ماده الكيتوبروفين المدخلة بواسطه جهاز الموجات الصوتية فعاليتها في علاج مرضي متلازمة اختناق العصب الأوسط في فترة الحمل<br/> |
