| Summary, etc. | This study aims to recognize the impact of ancient peoples' culture on contemporary peoples' culture by comparing Ovid’s aphorisms included in his works, with the corresponding proverbs and aphorisms in Italian popular culture. <br/>Through studying Ovid's aphorisms, we can learn all about the cultural, social, moral, and religious heritage of Roman society, as well as about the corresponding aphorisms and proverbs in Italian society, though the difference of their compositions and vocabulary; we can learn also how to develop positive social values, and reject negative values. <br/>In this study, the researcher used the comparative approach, which deals with the comparison of several languages belonging to the same linguistic family. Through that curriculum, we compare the aphorisms of Ovid with the corresponding proverbs, adage and terminology in Italian. <br/> |
