| Summary, etc. | Post herpetic neuralgia , a common neuropathic pain syndrome, usually occurs in patients with acute herpes zoster after resolving skin eruption. PHN is one of the most common complications of herpes zoster. Persistent severe pain has a huge impact on a patient's physical function, mental health, and social communication ability, and also places a heavy burden on patients' families and on society. The pain associated with post herpetic neuralgia often causes much distress and becomes refractory to any available treatments .The burden of pain may lead to many sequelae such as sleep disturbance and depression .Objective: The current study was conducted to compare the efficacy of low level laser therapy versus transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation in the treatment of post-herpetic neuralgia .Subjects and methods: Fifty patients male and female suffering from pain post herpetic neuralgia .Their ages ranged from40to 80 years.They were selected randomly from out clinic Deraya university referred by dermatologist then divided into two equal groups. Group (A) composed of 25 patients with post herpetic neuralgia and they received low level laser therapy with traditional medical treatment and Group (B) composed of 25 patients with post herpetic neuralgia and they received Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation with traditional medical treatment . Both modalities were applied once daily, 3 times a week for 20 minutes for 4 successive weeks. Visual analog scale and electronic algometer had been assessed before and after interventions. Results: There was a significant decrease in Visual analog scale and a significant increase in pressure algometer post treatment compared with that pre treatment in group A and B (p > 0.001). Comparison between groups post treatment revealed a significant decrease in Visual analog scale and a significant increase in pressure algometer of group A compared with that of group B (p > 0.05) .Conclusion:Both of low level laser therapy and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation were effective in treatment of pain in post-herpetic neuralgia but low level laser therapy was more effective |

| Summary, etc. | تصميم هذه الدراسة للتحقيق في فعالية الليزر منخفض الشده مقابل التنبيه الكهربى عبر الجلد على الألم العصبي ما بعد الحزام الناري .<br/>مواد و أساليب العلاج <br/>أشترك في هذه الدراسة خمسون مريضاً من الذكور والإناث يعانون من ألم مابعد الحزام النارى. تم تقسيم المرضى إلى مجموعتين 25 في كل مجموعة. تم اختيارهم عشوائياً من العيادات الخارجيه في جامعة دراية وأحالهم طبيب الأمراض الجلدية ثم قسموا إلى مجموعتين متساويتين كل مجموعة بها مرضى تتراوح أعمارهم بين 40 إلى 80 سنة. تم اختيار المشاركين من خارج العيادة الجلدية وتم تقسيمهم إلى مجموعتين متساويتين.<br/>تم تقسيم المرضى بشكل عشوائي إلى مجموعتين متساويتين (25) مريضًا لكل مجموعة <br/>مجموعة الاختبار الاولي : تضمنت 25 مريضًا يعانون من ألم عصبي ما بعد االحزام الناري والذين تلقوا علاجًا بالليزر منخفض الشده بالإضافة إلى العلاج الطبي التقليدي<br/> مجموعة الاختبار الثانية : شملت 25 مريضًا يعانون من الم ما بعد الحزام الناري والذين تلقوا التنبيه الكهربى عبر الجلد بالإضافة إلى العلاج الطبي التقليدي. تلقى المرضى في كل مجموعة العلاج (3 جلسات / أسبوع) لمدة أربعة أسابيع.<br/>تم استخدام المقياس التناظري البصري لقياس الألم قبل العلاج وبعد العلاج. وتم استخدام <br/>مقياس الضغط الالكتروني لقياس الألم قبل وبعد العلاج.<br/>وقد أظهرت النتائج مايلى ان هناك انخفاضا ذو دلاله إحصائية في المقياس التناظري البصرى للالم بعد العلاج في كلتا المجموعتين (أ&ب)بالمقارنه مع القيمه المقابلة قبل العلاج وارتفاعا ذو دلاله احصائيه في مقياس الضغط الالكتروني بعد علاج بالمقارنه مع القيمه المقابله قبل العلاج<br/>تكشف نتائج الدراسة الحالية أن كلا الجهازين الليزر منخفض الشده والتنيه الكهربي عبر الجلد في كلتا المجموعتين (أ&ب ). أظهرت انخفاضًا ملحوظًا في الألم العصبي ما بعد الحزام الناري لكن يعتبر الليزر أكثر فعالية<br/>وطبقا للنتائج التي تم الوصول اليها فيمكن استخلاص التوصيات التالية:<br/>1. يجب إجراء دراسة مماثلة لعدد كبير من المرضى ومدة أطول للسماح بالمتابعة بعد فترة العلاج.<br/>2. هناك حاجة إلى مزيد من الدراسات للتحقيق في أنماط مختلفة من الليزر منخفض الشده و التنبيه الكهربي في علاج الألم العصبي ما بعد الحزام الناري <br/>3. يمكن استخدام طرق التقييم الخاصة بـ الم العصبي ما بعد الحزام الناري على سبيل المثال ، جرد الألم النطاقي المختصر بالإضافة إلى المقياس التناظري البصري ،مقياس الضغط الالكتروني لقياس شده الألم)<br/>4. يوصى ببحث آخر لاستخدام الوخز بالإبر بالليزر لعلاج الألم العصبي ما بعد الحزام الناري <br/>ولقد اشتملت هذه الدراسه على مائه وثمانيه وعشرون ( 128 ) مرجعا وتم تبويبهم تبويبا ابجديا <br/><br/> |
