| Summary, etc. | Background: Bariatric surgery is currently the most effective treatment for morbid obesity. It aims to reduce dietary intake; it could lead to nutritional deficiencies as consequence of decrease oral intake or decrease absorption of the nutrients. Aim: To assess the nutritional status among patients undergoing bariatric surgeries. Design: A descriptive exploratory research design was utilized in the current study. Sample: A convenient sample of 60 adult male and female patients who were performed bariatric surgeries were enrolled in the current study within one year. Tools: Two tools were utilized to collect data: (a) Personal & Medical data Form, (b) Nutritional Assessment Form. Results: The age of study sample ranged between 19 to more than 50 years old, with mean age of 36.81±10.09 years. There were 86.7% females, 73.3% married, and 71.7% performed Gastric sleeve. There was statistical significant difference among the study sample before and after bariatric surgeries in BMI at (X2 = 35.29 p=0.000). Also, there was statistical significant differences in macro and micronutrients consumption of recommended dietary allowances (24 hours food recall) at (p = 0.000) among study sample before surgery, one month and three months after surgery also most of them complained from GIT upset. Conclusion: there were changes in the nutritional status among the study sample one and three months after bariatric surgery. Recommendations: further studies should be conducted to assess and compare long term follow up nutritional status among different types of bariatric surgeries |

| Summary, etc. | تعتبر السمنه واحده من اخطر المشكلات الصحيه فى القرن الحادى والعشرين التى تؤثر على جوده الحياه حيث انها تزيد من معدل الامراض المرتبطه بالسمنه مثل مرض السكر من النوع الثانى ,ارتفاع ضغط الدم , التهابات المفاصل , صعوبه التنفس وغيرها وبذلك ترتفع حده تكلفه العلاج لهذه الامراض مما يمثل عبئا على وحدات الرعايه الصحيه والدوله. ليس فقط الكبار هم من يعانون بالسمنه ولكن ايضا الاطفال يصابون بها سواء فى الدول الناميه او الدول المتقدمه. يمكن تعريف السمنه بأنها زياده تراكم الدهون بالجسم الى درجه انها تأثر سلبا على صحه الفرد. يمكن تشخيص السمنه بواسطه معدل كتله الجسم حيث يعتبر الشخص مريض سمنه اذا كانت معدل كتله جسمه اكبر من او تساوى 30كجم/ م2. وبالرغم من ان النظام الغذائى والرياضى والدوائى يعتبر هو الخيار الاول لعلاج السمنه الا ان جراحات السمنه هى الاكثر فاعليه لعلاج مرض السمنه والامراض المرتبطه بها ايضا، ولكن بالرغم من فاعليه هذه الجراحات الا انها لن تبرأ من آثارها الجانبيه التى تأثر على الحاله الغذائيه للمريض وتؤدى الى نقص فى بعض العناصر الغذائيه وذلك لانها تؤثر على كميه الطعام الذى يتناوله الشخص وايضا التغييرات التى تحدث فى تكوين الجهاز الهضمى تؤثر على امتصاص بعض العناصر الغذائيه بالاضافه الى الغثيان والقئ بعد الجراحه بالاضافه الى سوء اختيار نوعيه الاطعمه الواجب تناولها ولكن من الممكن تقليل هذه الاعراض الجانبيه عن طريق المتابعه المستمره للحاله الغذائيه للمرضى الذين يخضعون لهذه النوعيه من العمليات الجراحيه وايضا تقديم برنامج غذائى ونظام حياه يساعدهم فى التغلب على الاثار الجانبيه لجراحات السمنه . <br/> |
