| Summary, etc. | Purpose: the purpose of this study was to assess the flexibility of calf muscle (gastrocnemius and soleus), detect the difference in muscle flexibility between boys and girls, and identify differences in calf muscle flexibility between dominant and non-dominant lower limbs. Methods: For this purpose, 60 typically developing children participated in this study, they were divided into two groups according to gender, group A (30 boys) and group B (30 girls). Calf muscles flexibility was assessed by Silfverskio¨ test and ankle range of motion (ROM) was assessed by electro goniometer for gastrocnemius and soleus muscles for both groups. Results: The study findings, revealed a statistically non-significant differences in muscle flexibility between group (A) and group (B) and revealed significant differences in muscle flexibility between dominant and non-dominant limb in participants of group (A) and group (B). <br/>Conclusions: Calf muscle flexibility did not differ between boys and girls at age between 8 to 10 years, but calf muscles flexibility differed between the dominant and non-dominant side for all participants. |

| Summary, etc. | الغرض من الدراسة: اجريت هذه الدراسة لتقيم مرونة العضله الخلفيه للطرف السفلي ومقارنتهما بين كلا الجنسين وكذلك مقارنة الطرف المهيمن بالغير مهيمن لدي الاطفال الذين ينمون نمواً طبيعياً و إيجاد الفروق بين الاولاد و البنات ∙ المواد و طرق البحث و أساليبه: شارك٦٠ طفل من كلا الجنسين ممن تراوحت أعمارهم من٨ إلى ١٠ اعوام، و تم تقسيمهم الى مجموعتين ( أ ، ب) طبقا للجنس. المجموعة أ (مجموعة البنين) وتشمل ٣٠ طفلاً والمجموعة ب (مجموعة البنات) وتشمل٣٠ طفله و قد تم اختيار المشاركيين جميعا من المدارس الحكومية المصرية بمحافظة الغربيه. وتم تقييمهم جميعا باستخدام المنقل الالكتروني لتقييم مرونة عضلة الساق الخلفية ونطاق حركة مفصل الكاحل. النتائج: وقد أظهرت النتائج 1- عدم وجود فروقات في قياسات المنقل الالكتروني لقياسات نطاق حركة الكاحل وقياسات مرونة العضلة الخلفية بين كلا المجموعتين عند مقارنة نتائج البنين و البنات 2- كما اوضحت الدراسات عن وجود فرق في قياسات المنقل الالكتروني لقياس الزوايا بين الطرف المهيمن والغير مهيمن في كل مجموعة على حدا سواء لقياسات نطاق حركة الكاحل او لقياسات مرونة العضلة الخلفية. الخلاصة: قياسات المنقل الالكتروني لقياس الزوايا اوضحت عدم وجود فروقات في قياسات مرونة العضلة الخلفية للطرف السفلي بين البنين والبنات إلا انها اوضحت وجود فروقات بين الطرف المهيمن والغير مهيمن لدى البنين والبنات في كل مجموعة على حدا للمشاركين ممن تراوحت اعمارهم من 8 إلى 10 اعوام. |
