| Summary, etc. | Background: Handgrip strength and hand dexterity are important in school going children because most of the skilled activities of children during school time depend on the activities of hand. Handgrip strength is one of the best indicators of the overall strength of the upper limb and it is evaluated as a component of hand function. Purpose: The purpose of the study was to investigate the relation between body mass index, manual dexterity and handgrip strength in school aged children with normal weight, over weight and obese. Subjects: One hundred and five primary school children included thirty-five children with normal weight, thirty- five overweight children and thirty-five obese children, from both sexes and ranged in age from 9 to11 years, participated in the study. Methods: For assessment of body mass index, the height and weight were measured. The assessment of manual dexterity was carried out by using (BOT-2) while handgrip strength was assessed by hand held dynamometer. Results: The results revealed that there was a weak positive significant correlation between body mass index and handgrip strength and weak positive non significant correlation between body mass index and manual dexterity. Conclusion: it was concluded that there was a weak positive significant correlation between body mass index and handgrip strength and no correlation was found between body mass index and manual dexterity |

| Summary, etc. | خلفيه : تعتبر قوة قبضة اليد والمهاره اليدويه من الاشياء المهمه لدي اطفال المدارس لأن معظم الأنشطة المهاريه للأطفال أثناء وقت المدرسة تعتمد على أنشطة اليد. قوة قبضة اليد هي واحدة من أفضل المؤشرات على القوة الكلية للطرف العلوي ويتم تقييمها كعنصر من مكونات وظيفة اليد. الهدف : تهدف هذه الرسالة إلى دراسة العلاقة بين مؤشر كتلة الجسم والمهاره اليدويه وقوة قبضة اليد فى اطفال المدارس. طرق الدراسه : أجريت هذه الدراسة على مائه وخمسه طفل من اطفال المدارس الابتدائيه وتضمنت الدراسه خمسة وثلاثين طفلاً بوزن طبيعي ، خمسة وثلاثين طفلا يعانو من زيادة الوزن وخمسة وثلاثين طفلا يعانو من السمنة من كلا الجنسين وتراوحت أعمارهم من تسعه إلى احدي عشرعامًا. تم اختيارهم من مدارس ابتدائية حكومية في شبين القناطر، محافظة القليوبية. تم حساب مؤشر كتله الجسم عن طريق قياس كلا من الطول بـ (سم) والوزن بـ (كجم) باستخدام مقياس الارتفاع والوزن القياسي. تم تقييم المهاره اليدويه باستخدام مقياس بروينينسكي اوسيريتسكي اختبار الكفاءه الحركيه الطبعه الثانيه وتم تقييم قوة قبضة اليد لدى هؤلاء الأطفال باستخدام الدينامومتر. النتائج : لقد أوضحت النتائج وجود علاقة ايجابيه ضعيفه بين مؤشر كتلة الجسم وقوة قبضة اليد وعدم وجود علاقه بين مؤشر كتلة الجسم والمهاره اليدويه. الاستنتاج : من النتائج التي تم الحصول عليها من هذه الدراسة ، استنتج أن هناك علاقة ايجابيه ضعيفه بين مؤشر كتلة الجسم وقوة قبضة اليد وعدم وجود علاقه بين مؤشر كتلة الجسم والمهاره اليدويه. |
