Summary, etc. | One method for minimizing the negative impacts of water deficit is the usage of silicon. The current study was conducted in the 2019 and 2020 growing seasons at the Agricultural Research and Experiment Station of Cairo University's Faculty of Agriculture in Giza, Egypt (30°02' N and 31°13' E, at a height of 30 meters asl).The main objective of the investigation was to study the effect of water deficit at flowering on corn and its relation to silicon spraying. The study included two water treatments, non-stress (NS) and water deficit (WS), three silicon treatments (0, 3 and 6 mML-1), and five single-cross hybrids. A split-split plot design in a randomized complete block arrangement was used with three replications. Water deficit caused a significant reduction in grain yieldha-1 by 7.41 %. Yield reduction was accompanied by significant reductions in kernelsrow-1 (8.52 %), 100-kernel weight (7.16 %), carbohydrate % (4.79 %) and carbohydrate yieldha-1 (11.88 %). Silicon treatments caused significant increases in carbohydrate % by 0.57 and 0.71 % and oil % by 7.69 and 19.49 % due to the concentrations of 3 and 6 mML-1 of sodium silicate, respectively. Furthermore, ata concentration of 6 mML-1, significant increases in kernelsrow-1 (3.01 %), 100-kernel weight (3.12 %) and oil yieldha-1 (18.12 %) were observed. The most interesting observation in the study was the significant increase in oil yield/ha for all studied hybrids, ranging from 13.33 % (SC-3444) to 29.41 % (SC-3433) due to the application of 6 mML-1. The best hybrids for tolerance to water deficit were SC-30N11, SC-3433 and SC-3444. In general, correlation values under water deficit between grain yield and other studied traits were higher than those under non-stress conditions. |

Summary, etc. | يعتبر أستخدام السيليكونأحدى طرق تقليل التأثيرات السلبية لنقص المياه . أجريت الدراسة الحالية في موسمي 2019 و 2020 في محطة البحوث والتجارب الزراعية بكلية الزراعة جامعة القاهرة في الجيزة ، مصر (30 ° 02 'شمالاً و 31 ° 13' شرقًا ، على ارتفاع 30 مترًا). الهدف الرئيسي من البحث هو دراسة تأثير نقص الماء عند التزهير على الذرة وعلاقته برش السيليكون. تضمنت الدراسة معاملتين للمياه ،عدم الإجهادوالإجهاد المائي، وثلاث معاملات من السيليكون (0 ، 3 و 6 ملي مولار لكل لتر، وخمسة هجن فردية من الذرة الشامية. تم استخدام تصميم القطع المنشقة مرتين في توزيع القطاعات الكاملة العشوائية بثلاثة مكررات. تسبب نقص المياه في انخفاض معنوي في محصول الحبوب للهكتار بنسبة 7.41٪. ترافق انخفاض المحصول مع انخفاض معنوي في عدد الحبوب للصف (8.52٪) ، وزن 100 حبة (7.16٪) ، نسبة الكربوهيدرات (4.79٪) ومحصولالكربوهيدرات للهكتار (11.88٪). تسببت معاملات السيليكون في زيادة معنوية في نسبة الكربوهيدرات بمقدار 0.57 و 0.71٪ ونسبة الزيت بمقدار 7.69 و 19.49٪ نتيجة لتركيزات 3 و 6 ملي مولار من سيليكات الصوديوم على التوالي. علاوة على ذلك ، عند تركيز 6 ملي مولار ، لوحظت زيادات كبيرة في عدد الحبوب فى الصف (3.01٪) ، وزن 100 حبة (3.12٪) ومحصول الزيت للهكتار (18.12٪). كانت الملاحظة الأكثر إثارة للاهتمام في الدراسة هي الزيادة المعنوية في محصول الزيت / هكتار لجميع الهجن المدروسة ، والتي تراوحت من 13.33٪ (SC-3444) إلى 29.41٪ (SC-3433) نتيجة لتطبيق 6 ملي مولارللتر. كانت أفضل الهجن الفردية لتحمل نقص المياه هي SC-30N11 و SC-3433 و.
