ُعنى هذا البحث بصفة أساسية بظاهرة الهيمنة الحضرية في العالم العربي، حيث تتشكل منظومة المدن في الدولة من قطب أحادي كبير الحجم، بينما تنكمش أحجام المدن الأخرى بدرجة كبيرة، وتتباين حالة المنظومة الحضرية بوضوح عن النموذج النظري لحالة الاتزان والتراتب الحجمي المتدرج، ويتميز هذا القطب ــــــــ والذي غالبًا ما يكون عاصمة الدولة ومقر السلطات المركزية ــــــــ بحجم سكاني سريع النمو وتعدد وتنوع القطاعات الاقتصادية والخدمية المتضخمة. ويستهدف البحث رصد وتحليل وتوصيف وتقييم ظاهرة الهيمنة الحضرية في العالم العربي، وقياس درجة حدتها وتطورها خلال نصف قرن، وبالتالي التوصل إلى الملامح الأساسية للظاهرة في الوطن العربي. وارتكزت المنهجية العامة للبحث على إجراء تحليل تفصيلي متعدد الأبعاد لثلاثة حالات دراسية مختارة طبقًا لمعايير محددة (الأردن، سوريا، الجزائر)، بالإضافة إلى ثلاثة حالات دراسية أخرى (السعودية، العراق، ليبيا) تم دراسة ملامحها الأساسية على المستوى العام. وارتكز التحليل بشكل أساسي على تحليل منظومة أحجام المدن والتوزيع المكاني والتباعد، بالإضافة إلى تحليل بعض المؤشرات الاقتصادية والاجتماعية ــــــــ في إطار البيانات المحدودة المتاحة لبعض الحالات ــــــــ لاستكشاف طبيعة العلاقة الارتباطية بينها وبين حالة الهيمنة الحضرية. وقد أوضحت نتائج البحث أن ظاهرة الهيمنة الحضرية متأصلة وشديدة الرسوخ في العالم العربي، وعلى الرغم من انخفاض حدتها نسبيًا عبر الزمن، إلا أنها ظاهرة مستقرة ومستمرة، كما أنها ترتبط بالعديد من التداعيات السلبية المرتبطة بحالة التنمية المتوازنة والعدالة المكانية. |

This research focuses primarily on the phenomenon of “Urban Primacy” in the Arab World, within which the urban system comprises one unilateral pole, of voluminous population size, while other cities have substantially - variant – smaller sizes, and the whole urban system is rendered as distinctly far from the theoretical and normative parameters of the state of equilibrium, relevant to graded ranking of cities size. This main pole - which is mostly the capital of the state and the locus of national central power - is always distinguished by accelerated population growth and multiplicity and diversity of magnified economic and services sectors. The main objective of the research is monitoring, delineating and assessment of the phenomenon of urban primacy in the Arab World, and measuring its intensity, along half a century, and accordingly, identification of its basic features. The general methodology of the research is based on conducting a detailed multi-dimensional analysis of three selected cases, based on specific criteria (Jordan, Syria and Algeria), and also overall scanning of the basic features of other three cases (Saudia Arabia, Iraq and Libya). The core components of analysis are cities size system, spatial distribution and distancing. The process also included analysis of selected economic and social indicators - based on availability of limited data and information - mainly to detect potential hypothetical correlations with the specific measured states of urban primacy. Research findings and results manifestly illustrated that urban primacy phenomenon is inherent and deeply entrenched in the Arab World, and although its intensity is gradually extenuating along time, however, it is still predominant and sustainable, and possibly correlates with negative repercussions on the state “balanced Development” and “spatial justice”.<br/> |
