| Summary, etc. | Objective: This study is an observational, analytical; case-control study aiming to assess and compare salivary oxytocin levels in children with ADHD and typically developing children (TDC) and investigate and compare the correlations between salivary oxytocin level, empathy, and executive functions in children with ADHD and TDC. It also aims to explore any relation between empathy and executive functions, and how that may relate to the severity of socioemotional difficulties in children with ADHD.<br/>Method: A consecutive sample of 60 Egyptian Child with ADHD (n=60) were recruited from the child ADHD clinics located in Kasr Alainy Hospitals. All children were assessed using Kiddie Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia for School Age Children Present and Lifetime version (K-SADS-PL), Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children [WISC-III] and Conner’s Parent Rating Scale-(CPRS-R), Strengths and difficulties questionnaire (SDQ), Griffith empathy measure (GEM), Wisconsin card sorting test (WCST), and salivary oxytocin levels. <br/>Results: Salivary oxytocin level showed statistically significant difference (P-value = 0.031) between cases (mean= 83.68 ±37.3 pg/ml) and controls (mean= 68.00 ±48.6 pg/ml), however, correlation between salivary oxytocin levels, empathy (GEM) and executive functions (WISC III abilities & WCST) among cases and controls were not statistically significant. Linear regression model revealed that only working memory (FDI) and failure to maintain set (FMS) showed statistically significant relation with total difficulties (TD) scores (SDQ), with p value of 0.000 and 0.019 respectively.<br/>Conclusions: Salivary oxytocin levels showed statistically significant difference between children with ADHD and TDC. |

| Summary, etc. | ﺇضطراب نقص الانتباه وفرط النشاط هو اضطراب نفسي شائع في النمو العصبي يرتبط بخلل في التحكم المثبط والانتباه المستمر والوظائف التنفيذية الأخرى. وعلى الرغم من الاختلاف الكبير عن الضوابط في مقارنات المجموعة، فإن الملامح النفسية العصبية للأشخاص الذين يعانون من اضطراب فرط الحركة ونقص الانتباه تظهر أيضًا تباينًا كبيرًا بين الأفراد وداخلهم. من المرجح أن يعكس هذا التجانس السريري تعدد المسارات السببية التي تؤدي إلى تطور الاضطراب وسلسلة من العوامل المعتدلة والوسيطة المشاركة في التعبير عن الأعراض .<br/>ومن ثم، فإن الآليات البيولوجية العصبية الدقيقة الكامنة وراء الفيزيولوجيا المرضية لاضطراب فرط الحركة ونقص الانتباه غير معروفة حاليًا، وإحدى طرق مكافحة هذا الاضطراب هي اكتشاف مؤشرات حيوية جديدة من شأنها أن تساعد في التشخيص وتطوير علاج نفسي فعال.<br/>وقد شارك الأوكسيتوسين في الفيزيولوجيا المرضية لمختلف الاضطرابات النفسية. واحد منهم هو اضطراب فرط الحركة ونقص الانتباه . في هذه الدراسة، سنحاول تسليط الضوء على العلاقات المعقدة بين الأوكسيتوسين والوظائف التنفيذية، والسلوك الاجتماعي، والمواجدة، في سياق الاضطرابات المفترضة لهذه الوظائف في اضطراب فرط الحركة ونقص الانتباه، بهدف فهم أفضل للعلاقة المعقدة والمثيرة للاهتمام بين كفاءة المواجدة والمهارات التنفيذية. قد يكون هذا مفيدًا في تحديد استراتيجيات العلاج التي تهدف إلى تخفيف السلوكيات الخارجية |
