| Summary, etc. | Background; Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is one of the most common, chronic degenerative diseases of the knee joint. One of the causes of pain in KOA originates from the myofascial trigger points (MTrPs) located in the muscles surrounding knee. Purpose: the objective of this double blinded randomized control study is to evaluate the effect of adding deep front line (DFL) myofascial release (MFR) to selected exercises in decreasing pain, improving ROM, function and joint position sense (JPS) in patients with KOA. Method: 42 patients with mild to moderate KOA were recruited and randomly assigned into 2 groups. The control group received selected stretching and strengthening exercises to selected muscles of knee and hip. The study group received MFR with instrumental assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) technique to the DFL in addition to the same exercises. Each group received 3 sessions per week for four consecutive weeks. Results; post treatment comparison to pretreatment for both groups showed a significant improvement in pain, flexion ROM, extension ROM, function and JPS. The comparison between the 2 groups after treatment revealed that the study group was superior in all measured variables except extension ROM which showed no significant difference Conclusion: Adding the deep front line MFR to exercises has a superior result than using exercises alone in patients with KOA. |

| Summary, etc. | الخلفيه: يعتبر الالتهاب العظمي المفصلي للركبه واحدا من اكثر الامراض المزمنه التي تسبب تآكل مفصل الركبه.جزء من الالم الذي ينشأ يكون بسبب وجود نقاط تحفيز اللفافة العضلية الموجودة في العضلات المحيطة.<br/>الغرض من البحث: تهدف هذه التجربه العشوائيه المحكومه مزدوجه التعميه الي دراسة إضافة الافراج الليفي العضلي إلي بعض التمارين المختارة في حالات الالتهاب العظمي المفصلي للركبه.مواد البحث وأساليبه: ٤٢ مريض يعانون من التهاب بسيط الي متوسط بالركبه تم جمعهم وتوزيعهم توزيعا عشوائيا علي مجموعتين .المجموعه الضابطه تلقت علاج عباره عن بعض التمارين العلاجيه في صوره تقويه العضلات الضعيفه واستطاله للعضلات القصيره حول الركبه والمفصل الحرقفي. ومجموعه الدراسه وتلقت نفس التمارين العلاجيه السابق ذكرها بالاضافه الي الإفراج الليفي العضلي للخط الأمامي العميق باستخدام طريقه الادوات المساعده الانسجه الرخوه. استقبل المرضي ١٢ جلسه علاجيه لمده ٤ اسابيع متتالية.نتائج البحث: بعد تلقي العلاج للمجموعتين أظهرت كلتا المجموعتين تحسنا في مدي الحركه والوظيفه وحده الالم وحساسيه المفصل للحركه.ولكن بالمقارنة بين المجموعتين ظهر أن مجموعه البحث كانت اعلي في النتائج عن المجموعه الضابطه في كل العناصر التي تم قياسها ما عدا المدي الحركي لفرد الركبه الذي لم يكن هناك فرق بين المجموعتين الخلاصه: اضافه الإفراج الليفي العضلي لكلا من العضله الضامه والعضله القصبيه الخلفيه اللتان هم اجزاء من الخط الأمامي العميق إلي التمارين العلاجيه افضل من استخدام التمارين العلاجيه بمفردها للمرضي الذين يعانون من الالتهاب العظمي المفصلي للركبه. |
