| Summary, etc. | Aim: The study was aimed at assessing the levels of Galectin-3 in the GCF and Saliva in periodontal diseases. <br/>Methodology: The present cross-sectional study was conducted on 66 participants including periodontal healthy, gingivitis, as well as stage III periodontitis individuals. Dental patients were recruited in a consecutive manner from the outpatient Diagnostic center, Faculty of Dentistry, Cairo University. Periodontal examination was continued at the outpatient clinic, Department of Oral Medicine and Periodontology, Faculty of Dentistry, Cairo University . Pocket depth, clinical attachment level, bleeding on probing, and plaque index were measured using a manual UNC periodontal probe. GCF samples were collected from the deepest site by inserting absorbent paper strips into the gingival sulcus for 30 seconds and were immediately pooled into a polypropylene micro-centrifuge tube and kept at -80 °C until analysis. Galectin-3 levels were quantified by using a commercial Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay Kit. Unstimulated whole expectorated saliva samples were collected from all subjects participating in this study. Five ml of saliva sample was collected from each subject into Eppendorf tubes which were immediately frozen & stored at -70 °C. Salivary Galectin-3 levels were quantified by using a commercial Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay Kit. All these parameters were subjected to statistical analysis. |

| Summary, etc. | مرض اللثة هو اضطراب معقد مع تفاعلات حاسمة بين الغشاء الحيوي واستجابة الالتهاب المناعي للمضيف مما يؤدي إلىتغييرات كبيرة في التوازن في العظام والنسيج الضام. يشارك جلاكتين- ٣ في مجموعة متنوعة من العمليات البيولوجية ، بما في ذلكتكوين الأوعية ، ونمو الخلايا وتمايزها ، وموت الخلايا المبرمج ، والتليف ، وتعديل الاستجابة المناعية / الالتهابية. يبحث باحثو اللثةعن مؤشرات حيوية تشخيصية فعالة يمكنها تحديد تطور المرض في اللثة قبل حدوث ضرر سريري كبير . <br/> الهدف من هذه الدراسة المقطعية هو تقييم تركيز جلاكتين- ٣ فى السائل اللثوى الشقى واللعاب في المرضى الذين يعانون م ن التهاب اللثة و المرضى الذين يعانون من التهاب دواعم السن من المرحلة الثالثة في عينة من المرضى المصريين الباحثين عن علاج الأسنان في مركز التشخيص ، كلية طب الأسنان ، جامعة القاهرة. تم اختيار الموضوعات بالتسلسل من مركز التشخيص بكلية طب الأسنان بجامعة القاهرة. شملت الدراسة الحالية ٦٦ مشاركا. <br/>لتشخيص حالة اللثة ، تم إجراء الفحوصات السريرية لتحديد التهاب اللثة ، عمق الجيب ، مستوى التعلق السرير ي، النزيف على السبر ومؤشر البلاك . تم تسجيل هذه المعلمات باستخدام مسبار دواعم الأسنان اليدوي في موقع الخلل داخل العظم بين العظام وتم حساب متوسطها إلى أقرب ملليمترات . تم فحص جميع الأسنان الدائمة المنبثقة بالكامل، باستثناء الأضراس الثالثة ، في ٦ مواقع شد ق لكل سن. <br/>جمع عينات السائل اللثوي الشقى من أعمق موقع . قبل أخذ العينات ، تم عزل لأسنان بلفائف قطنية وإزالة اللويحة فوق اللثة<br/>بقطن معقم وتجفيف الأسطح بالهواء برفق . تم أخذ العينات عن طريق إدخال شرائح ورقية ماصة في الجيب اللثوي لمدة 30 ثانية. تم التخلص من أي عينة ملوثة بالدم واللعاب. تم قياس مستويات جلاكتين- ٣ في السائل اللثوى الشقى باستخدام مجموعة مقايسة ماصة مناعيةمرتبطة بالإنزيم. <br/>تم جمع خمسة مل من عينة اللعاب من كل مشارك في الصباح الباكر لتجنب إيقاع الساعة البيولوجية . تم توجيه المريض بعدم الشرب ) باستثناء الماء ( أو مضغ العلكة بعد الصيام طوال الليل. تم شطف أفواههم بماء الشريط. تم الحصول على عينة اللعاب عن طريق نخامة المريض في أنبوب ايبندورف أثناء جلوسه في وضع رأسي. القياس الكمي لمستويات جلاكتين- ٣ اللعابية باستخدام مجموعةمقايسة الممتز المناعي المرتبط بالإنزيم التجاري . <br/>أظهر التحليل الإحصائي الحالي أن التهاب دواعم السن في المرحلة الثالثة يحتوي على مستويات أعلى من مستويات جلاكتين- <br/>٣ ف ي السائل اللثوى الشقى واللعاب مقارنة بالمجموعة الصحية. ومع ذلك ، لم يكن هناك فرق معتد به إحصائيًا في مستويات اللعاب و السائل اللثوى الشقى من جلاكتين- ٣ بين مرضى التهاب اللثة ومرضى التهاب دواعم السن في المرحلة الثالثة. فيما يتعلق بالمعاييرالسريرية اللثوية ، كان هناك فرق معتد به إحصائيًا بين مجموعات التهاب دواعم الأسنان الصحية والمرحلة الثالثة ، وكذلك بين مجموعات التهاب اللثة الصحية. ومع ذلك ، لم يكن هناك فرق معتد به إحصائيا بين التهاب اللثة مقارنة مع التهاب دواعم السن في مؤاشرات البلاك. <br/>بالإضافة إلى ذلك ، لم يكن هناك فرق معتد به إحصائيًا بين مجموعة التهاب اللثة مقارنة بالمجموعة الصحية في قيم عمق الجيب ومستوى التعلق السريري |
