| Summary, etc. | Background: Emesis post cesarean section refers to nausea and vomiting in the immediate 24 hours post-operative, It has many consequences include patient discomfort, prolonged hospitalization, and increased health care costs. Purpose: To investigate the effect of acupressure on post cesarean section emesis. Methods: Forty-eight patients who are diagnosed with mild to moderate emesis post cesarean section under spinal anesthesia with age ranged from 25-35 years were assigned randomly into 2 equal groups. Study Group (Group A): It consisted of 24 patients who treated by acupressure for 6 hours in addition to anti emetic drugs post-operative. Control Group (Group B): It consisted of 24 patients treated by the anti-emetic drugs only as in group A post- operative. Postoperative nausea and vomiting intensity of each woman in both groups was measured using 4-point verbal descriptive scale and simplified post- operative nausea and vomiting scale. Results: There was a significant decrease in 4-point verbal descriptive scale and simplified postoperative nausea and vomiting intensity scale of study group compared with that of control group post treatment. (P=0.001) Conclusion: Acupressure with antiemetic drugs is better than antiemetic drugs alone on decreasing nausea and vomiting post caesarean section. |

| Summary, etc. | الخلفية العلمية: يشير القيء بعد العملية القيصرية إلى الغثيان والقيء في خلال الاربع والعشرين ساعة التالية للعملية الجراحية مباشرة. وله عواقب عديدة تشمل عدم راحة المريضة، ودخول العلاج بالمستشفى لفترة طويلة، وزيادة تكاليف الرعاية الصحية. الغرض من البحث: دراسة تأثيرالضغط علي مناطق الوخز الابري على القيء بعد الولادة القيصرية. الطرق: تم تقسيم ثمانية وأربعين مريضة تم تشخيص إصابتهن بقيء خفيف إلى متوسط بعد العملية القيصرية تحت التخدير النخاعي وتتراوح أعمارهن بين 25-35 سنة تم تقسيمهن بشكل عشوائي إلى مجموعتين متساويتين. مجموعة الدراسة (المجموعة أ): تكونت من 24 سيدة تم علاجهن بالوخزالابري لمدة ست ساعات بالإضافة إلى الأدوية المضادة للقىء بعد العملية الجراحية. المجموعة الضابطة (المجموعة ب): تكونت من 24 سيدة تم علاجهن بالادوية المضادة للقيء كما في المجموعة (أ) بعد العملية الجراحية. تم قياس شدة الغثيان والقيء بعد العملية الجراحية لكل امرأة في كلتا المجموعتين باستخدام مقياس وصفي لفظي مكون من 4 نقاط. و مقياس الغثيان والقيء بعد العملية الجراحية المبسط. النتائج: كان هناك انخفاض ذو دلاله احصائيه في مقياس الوصف اللفظي المكون من 4 نقاط ومقياس شدة الغثيان والقيء بعد العملية الجراحية المبسط لمجموعة الدراسة مقارنة مع المجموعة الضابطة بعد العلاج. الاستنتاج: العلاج بالابر مع الأدوية المضادة للقيء أفضل من الأدوية المضادة للقيء وحدها في تقليل الغثيان والقيء بعد الولادة القيصرية. |
