Summary, etc. | The thesis concerns a ground improvement technique resulting in the electro-cementation of calcareous sand. Colloidal silica nanoparticles and alumina powder were added as percent weights of the treated sand samples, and a DC current was passed through the mix inside an electrokinetic cell. The method resulted in the formation of calcium silicate hydrates and calcium aluminate hydrates as products of the pozzolanic reactions between Ca(OH)2, SiO2 and Al2O3, after electrolysis occurred. Iron-rich cements were also formed by the degradation of stainless-steel/iron electrodes. The treated soil was changed from a granular material into a rock .Results show that the compressive and shear strengths of the treated sand are significantly improved. |

Summary, etc. | تقدم الرسالة تقنية حديثة صديقة للبيئة لتحسين الرمل الجيرى الشاطئى. تتم عملية المعالجة في التقنية المقدمة على خطوتين، اولاً إضافة المثبتات الكيميائية للرمل الجيرى وهى حبيبات النانو سيليكا وبودرة أكسيد الألومنيوم وخلطهم معا، ثانياً تمرير تيار كهربائى خلال جزيئات الخليط عن طريق وضع أقطاب كهربائية من الواح الفولاذ المقاوم للصدأ داخل الخليط مما يؤدى إلى التحليل الكهربائى للمركبات الكيميائية لمكونات الخليط وتفاعلها الكيميائى مع بعضها البعض مما ينتج عنه تكوين هيدرات سيليكات الكالسيوم وهيدرات الومينات الكالسيوم مما يؤدى إلى تدعيم التربة المعالجة فضلا عن النشاط البوزولانى للنانو سيليكا الممتد المفعول. تضمن منهاج البحث اختبار الخصائص الهندسية للرمل المعالج مثل مقاومة القص ومقاومة الضغط كما تضمن عمل الإختبارات الطيفية للعينات المعالجة. |
