520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Despite global progress in expanding democracy, Algeria's regime has managed to maintain its authoritarian grip. The ruling elite leverages the nation's abundant resources to strategically distribute economic benefits and limit political change, creating a facade of reform while preserving the core of authoritarian rule.<br/>Even after the departure of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, Algeria's true power, "le Pouvoir," remains entrenched. The regime has weathered the Arab Spring and the 2019 "Algerian spring," with subsequent elections boycotted by protesters who saw them as maintaining the status quo. Algerian demonstrators persistently demand political reform and the removal of Bouteflika-era remnants. This study sheds light on the factors that sustain the regime's survival, highlighting the interplay between the state's economic structure and authoritarian strategies. In an oil-dependent context, this research explores how oil cycles can either empower or threaten the regime, contributing to a deeper understanding of authoritarian persistence in the region and globally.
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
