| Summary, etc. | Objectives: To compare between the effect of dry needling and muscle energy technique on adhesive capsulitis post mastectomy.<br/>Design: A single-blinded randomized clinical study. <br/>Subjects: Fifty female patients with shoulder adhesive capsulitis post mastectomy with age ranged from (30-60 years old) were allocated randomly into two equal groups. Group (A) received dry needling, plus traditional physical therapy program in form of (shoulder ROM exercise , stretching exercise and joint mobilization); Group (B) received muscle energy technique, plus traditional physical therapy program,two sessions per week along five weeks.<br/>Outcome measures: Shoulder range of motion was measured by goniometer, pressure pain threshold was measured by pressure algometer and shoulder dysfunction was measured by SPADI scale pretreatment and post treatment after five weeks. <br/>Results: There was no significant difference between groups in age distribution (p >0.05). There was a significant increase in pressure pain threshold and a significant decrease in shoulder dysfunction post treatment compared with pretreatment (p <0.001). There was a significant increase in shoulder flexion, abduction and external rotation ranges post treatment compared with pretreatment in both group A and B (p > 0.001). The percent of change in flexion, abduction and external rotation in group A was 125.03, 76.43 and 58.72%, respectively; where in group B was 137.48, 97.51 and 68.78%, respectively.<br/>Comparison between groups post treatment revealed a significant increase in pressure pain threshold of group A compared with that of group B (p < 0.001) while there was no significant difference in shoulder dysfunction between groups (p > 0.05). There was a significant increase in flexion, abduction and external rotation ROM of group B compared with that of group A post treatment (p < 0.001).<br/>Conclusion: Application of either dry needling or muscle energy technique has a significant improvement in severity of symptoms in adhesive capsulitis post mastectomy |

| Summary, etc. | اجريت هذه الدراسة لمعرفة تأثير العلاج بتقنية الابر الجافة مقابل العلاج بتقنية طاقة العضلات على الالتهاب اللاصق لكبسولة الكتف بعد استئصال الثدي ، حيث شارك في هذه الدراسة خمسون مريضا من الاناث وتم تقسيمهم عشوائيا الى مجموعتين متساويتين في العدد. المجموعة الأولى: تلقوا العلاج بتقنية الابر الجافة بالإضافة لبرنامج العلاج الطبيعي التقليدي ( تمرينات لإطالة العضلات – تمرينات تحريك لمفصل الكتف و تمرينات مدى حركي للكتف)المجموعة الثانية: تلقوا العلاج بتقنية طاقة العضلات بالإضافة لبرنامج العلاج الطبيعي التقليدي ( تمرينات اطالة للعضلات و تمرينات لتحريك مفصل الكتف و تمرينات مدى حركي للكتف) وقد تم التقييم مرتين قبل وبعد العلاج بخمسة أسابيع باستخدام مقياس المدى الحركي لحركة الكتف الامامية و الجانبية و الدوران للخارج و ايضا باستخدام مؤشر الألم و الاعاقة بالكتف و جهاز تحديد مقدار الالم بالضغط و قد أوضحت نتائج هذه الدراسة ان المجموعة الأولى اظهرت تحسن اكثر من المجموعة الثانية من حيث مقدار تحمل الألم حيث تحسن الألم بنسبة 62.77% , بينما اظهرت المجموعة الثانية تحسن اكبر في المدى الحركي لمفصل الكتف بنسبة 48.137% للدوران الخارجي و 43.76% للرفع الامامي و 03.125% للرفع الجانبي.<br/>الاستنتاج: يمكن الاستنتاج بأن الإبر الجافة وسيلة فعالة في علاج الالتهاب اللاصق لكبسولة الكتف أكثر من تقنية طاقة العضلات |
