| Summary, etc. | Alopecia areata (AA) is a non-scarring, inflammatory condition characterized by loss of hair of the scalp and/or body. Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disease caused by T lymphocytes in which the inflammation mainly affects anagen-stage hair follicles (1).<br/>Novel alopecia areata therapeutic methods have being developed in order to improve care quality. This study will compare topical clobetasol propionate alone versus the fractional Er: YAG laser alone versus combination of fractional erbium:YAG laser followed by topical clobetasol propionate in the treatment of alopecia areata.<br/>Thirty people with multiple alopecia areata participated in the study. <br/>In each participant, one lesion was treated by topical clobetasol propionate alone and called streroid group (group A), the second lesion was handled by fractional Er: YAG laser alone and called laser group (group B) and third lesion was treated by fractional Er: YAG laser followed by topical clobetasol propionate and called combined group (group C). The SALT score, satisfaction of patients, and dermoscopic signs were used to assess therapy response.<br/>The three treatment modalities resulted in a statistically significant decrease in the SALT score before and after treatment and a significant clinical improvement in alopecia areata recorded by clinical photos. Concerning the combined therapy group (group C), the SALT score was better than group A and group B. When making comparisons of dermoscopic signs of treated areas pre and post therapy, all modalities reported a significant reduction in all alopecia areata dermoscopic signs. <br/>Fractionated Er: YAG laser with topical corticosteroids has been proved to be efficient treatment modality in alopecia areata. |

| Summary, etc. | تعد الثعلبة من الامراض المناعية التى تصيب الشعر وتسبب تساقطه بشكل جزئى او كلى وهى منشره بنسبة 2% من البشر. لايوجد علاج أكيد وفعال تماما للثعلبة حتى الان. يحدد العلاج على حسب درجة انتشار المرض فقد يكون العلاج كريم كورتيوزن او كريمات مناعية او اقراص كورتيزون او اقراص مناعية او علاج ضوئى او ليزر.<br/>يوجد عدة انواع لليزر يمكن استخدامها لعلاج الثعلبة. تمت هذه الدراسة على ثلاثين مريض من معهد الليزر بجامعة القاهرة ومستشفى القاهرة للجلدية (الحوض المرصود) وهم جميعا يعانوا من عدة اصابات من الثعلبة بالرأس.تم تعيين ثلاث اصابات من الثعلبه متساويه فى المساحة بحيث تعالج الاولى بالكورتيزون الموضعى فقط والثانية بالليزرالآربيم ياج المجزئ فقط والاخيرة باللليزر والكريم الموضعى فى نفس الجلسة.<br/>وتم رصد النتائج بالصور السريريه و صور منظار الشعر و باحصائيه عن مدى رضا كل مريض لكل طريقة علاج.<br/>وكانت النتائج فعالة فى كل الطرق ولكن وجدنا ان نتائج استخدام الليزر اكثر فاعلية من الكورتيزون الموضعى و كذلك وجدنا ان نتائج استخدام الليزر مع الكروتيزون الموضعى معا اكثر فاعليه من استخدام الليزر منفردا او استخدام الكريم الموضعى منفردا.<br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/><br/> |
