Summary, etc. Laser frequency stabilization is crucial for length metrology, since it is a perquisite for displacement interferometers. Frequency-doubled light at 532 nm from the microchip Nd:YVO4 lasers is a promising candidate to replace the widely used He-Ne lasers in length metrology due to their superior characteristics, low-cost and rugged structure.In this thesis, a single frequency stabilizedDiode-Pumped Solid-State (DPSS) Nd:YVO4 laser is constructed for length metrology. The thesis includes five chapters: the first chapter explains the importance of laser frequency stabilized in different length metrology applications. Chapter 2 describes the comparison between different types of lasers. Chapter 3, briefly describes different laser parameters measurement techniques. Chapter 4 describes briefly some different laser frequency stabilization techniques for the (DPSS) laser.Chapter 5 includes the experimental work and results.<br/>The following experiments were performed:<br/>• Investigation of the longitudinal modes and the mode spacing of different types of He-Ne lasers.<br/>• Testingdifferentmicrochip Nd:YVO4 laser modules.<br/>• Construction of a single frequency stabilized DPSS Nd:YVO4 green laser for length metrology.<br/>• Spectral characteristics of a commercial microchip Nd:YVO4 are investigated. The laser temperature is initially controlled to facilitate the study of longitudinal mode structure of the laser at different pumping currents and temperatures. Additionally, a simple method is suggested to obtain a single-mode operation at a relatively wide temperature range, namely from 20 ℃ to 25.8 ℃, and pumping currents from 300 mA to 385 mA. <br/>• The frequency stability is evaluated after controlling the laser temperature to be 1.9 × 10-8 at 1 second. Additionally, parameters that are important for locking the frequency of the laser to a molecular reference transition are investigated such as, laser linewidth and the relation between current/temperature and wavelength.<br/>

Summary, etc. يعتبر تثبيت تردد الليزر أمرًا بالغ الأهمية لمترولوجيا الأطوال، نظرًا لأنه شرط أساسي للوصول لقياسات الأطوال للدقة العالية المطلوبة في هذه القياسات وايضا لمدي اهميتها في طرق قياس المسافة يالتداخل الضوئي مثل طرق الازاحة. وتعد تقنية مضاعفة التردد الضوئي عند الطوال الموجي 532 نانومتر من ليزر Nd:YVO4ذو الرقاقة الدقيقة أحد البدائل الفعالة التي يمكن أن تحل محل ليزرالهيليوم نيون المثبت التردد علي خلية الأيودين والمستخدم على نطاق واسع في قياس الطول نظرًا لخصائصه الفائقة وبنيته المنخفضة التكلفة وحجمه المدمج. في هذه الأطروحة، تم تصميم ليزر الحالة الصلبة (DPSS) Nd:YVO4المستقر بتردد أحادي لقياس الطول. <br/>تتضمن الرسالة خمسة فصول: الفصل الأول يبرز أهمية استقرار تردد الليزر في تطبيقات قياس الأطوال المختلفة. في الفصل الثاني تم المقارنة بين عدة أنواع من الليزر المختلفة. ويصف الفصل الثالث بإيجاز طرقمختلفة لقياس خصائص الليزر. في الفصل الرابع يتم شرح تقنيات تثبيت تردد الليزر المختلفة لليزرDPSS. أما الفصل الخامس فيتضمن عرضا تفصيليا للتجارب العملية التي تمت ونتائجها.<br/><br/>
