| Summary, etc. | Chronic non-specific neck pain is a prevalent health issue that can significantly<br/>impact quality of life. Despite its prevalence, the underlying mechanisms and potential impacts<br/>on proprioceptive function remain poorly understood, shedding light on the potential impact of<br/>neck pain on lumbar proprioception and highlighting the need for comprehensive management<br/>approaches addressing both cervical and lumbar spine issues. Purpose: This study aimed to<br/>investigate the correlation between chronic non-specific neck pain and lumbar reposition sense.<br/>Participants: Seventy-four participants from both genders with chronic non-specific neck pain<br/>for at least the last 12 weeks were included in this study. Their mean value of age 27.41 ± 5.4<br/>years, a mean body mass index of 22.93 ± 1.4 kg/m2, a mean neck pain duration of 26.84 ± 21.3<br/>weeks, Materials and Methods: Assessing the participants with chronic non-specific neck pain<br/>using the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) with a mean VAS score of 4.92 ± 2, lumbar<br/>repositioning sense error was measured using an iPhone inclinometer app in standing and<br/>sitting positions with a mean standing lumber repositioning error of 4.56 ± 2.1o, and a mean<br/>sitting lumber repositioning error of 4.34 ± 2o. Results: A strong direct linear correlation was<br/>found between neck pain VAS score and standing lumbar repositioning sense error (r= 0.8,<br/>p=0.001). Similarly, a strong direct linear correlation was found between neck pain VAS score<br/>and sitting lumbar repositioning error (r= 0.85, p=0.001). Conclusion: This study showed a<br/>strong direct correlation between chronic non-specific neck pain and lumbar reposition sense<br/>using iPhone® inclinometer as an assessment tool |
