| Summary, etc. | كانت للنوبة ثقلها الجيوسياسي الكبير لدى ملوك مصر منذ أقدم العصور؛ باعتبارها موردًا رئيسيًا للذهب. كما أنها معبرًا للتجارة مع الجنوب. وقد حرص الملوك البطالمة والأباطرة الرومان - التي دانت لهم مصر- على إبقاء تلك البقاع موالية لمصر. تارة بإرسال الحملات العسكرية، وأخرى بعقد المعاهدات السياسية مع ملوك الممالك النوبية المعاصرة. <br/>هذا، وقد لازمت تلك السياسة المتوارثة إنشاء بؤرًا استيطانية لخدمة المشروعات الاقتصادية بتلك البقاع وتدعيمها بالحصون لحمايتها. وكانت مدينة بسلكيس (الدكة حديثًا) -مقابل مدخل وادي علاقي- واحدة من المراكز الاستيطانية الأهم بالمنطقة. وتعد نموذجًا تطبيقيًا يشهد على تطور تاريخ المنطقة منذ أقدم العصور.<br/>وقد غدت بسلكيس خلال العصر الروماني (30 ق.م – 284م) مركزًا حضاريًا رئيسيًا بتلك البقاع، حظيت بمكانة عظيمة اقتصاديًا ودينيًا، بل وثقافيًا، وربما وصلت إلى ذروتها خلال تلك الحقبة. وقد اعتمدت دراسة تاريخ البلدة على المصادر المتنوعة المنتمية لتلك الفترة موضوع الدراسة. وتتمثل المصادر في النقـــوش والآثار، والأوســـتراكا، والبـــردي والكتابات الأدبية للمؤرخين الكلاسيكيين، وتقارير بعثات التنقيب عن الآثار. هذا إلى المراجع العربية والأجنبية<br/> |

| Summary, etc. | Nubia had great geopolitical weight among the kings of Egypt since ancient times, As a major supplier of gold. It is also a crossing point for trade with the south. The Ptolemaic kings and Roman emperors - to whom Egypt was indebted - were keen to keep those regions loyal to Egypt. Sometimes by sending military campaigns, and sometimes by concluding political treaties with the kings of the contemporary Nubian kingdoms.<br/>This inherited policy entailed establishing settlement outposts to serve economic projects in those areas and strengthening them with forts to protect them. The city of Pselkis (modern Al-Dakka), opposite the entrance to Wadi Allaqi, was one of the most important settlement centers in the region. It is an applied model that testifies to the development of the region’s history since ancient times.<br/>During the Roman era (30 BC - 284 AD), Pselkis became a major cultural center in those regions. It enjoyed great economic, religious, and even cultural status, and may have reached its peak during that era. The study of the City's history relied on various sources belonging to that period under study. The sources include inscriptions, antiquities, ostraca, papyrus, literary writings of classical historians, and reports of archaeological excavation missions. This is in addition to Arabic and foreign references.<br/> |
