| Summary, etc. | The concern with identity and its politics is not new to the feminist thought. This study analyzes the memoirs of Azar Nafisi, Fatema Mernissi, and Latifa al-Zayyat, three Third World women writers whose narratives challenge the conventional notion of women’s identity as being monolithic. Informed by poststructuralist theory, particularly the concept of positionality, this research aims to analyze how Azar Nafisi’s Reading Lolita in Tehran (2003), Fatema Mernissi’s Scheherazade Goes West (2001), Latifa al-Zayyat’s The Search: Personal Papers (Ḥamlattaftīš: awrāqšaḫṣiyya) (1992) provide insights into the fluidity and complexity of women’s identities. Positionality emerges as a key concept within these narrative frameworks, emphasizing the ways in which women are situated within various power structures and discourses, shaping their subjectivities. Through the lens of poststructuralist theory, this study aims to illustrate how Nafisi, Mernissi, and al-Zayyat navigate their positions as women within diverse cultural, social and political contexts. By analyzing their memoirs, the study seeks to uncover how positionality informs the construction of women’s subjectivity, challenging the dominant discourse of women’s monolithic identity. In this discourse, gender, while significant, is not the sole determinant of women’s subjectivity. It changes its position vis-à-vis other constituents which are set in relation to the spatial, multiple, shifting and sometimes fluid standpoints of the discursive structure. Given that, this thesis is to demonstrate the significance of women’s memoirs where the narrator’s role extends beyond being a mere participant or observer to encompass a reflective and reflexive consciousness, offering the readers insights into the intricate ways in which women’s subjectivity and agency are realized |

| Summary, etc. | تقوم الرسالة بدراسة مقارنة لمذكرات لنساء من العالم الثالث مهدن لخطابات جديدة تذهب بعيدًا عن فكرة التجارب المتجانسة والثنائيات الحدية المتعارف عليها بين العالمين الأول والثالث، وبين الرجال والنساء، بغرض الوصول لخطاب أكثر شمولية وعمقا. تربط الكاتبات الثلاث بين تشكل الهوية والموقف، إذ أنه بالرغم من الفوارق الثقافية والشخصية، علاوة على فوارق الخلفيات التاريخية للروائيات الثلاث، نجد أن ثلاثتهن على أتم وعي بتقارب النوع (تقارب الرجل والمرأة)، وارتباطه بالموقفية وعوامل أخرى مثل الطبقة، والأصل العرقي، والجنس، والديانة، والتوجهات الجنسية، والأصول القومية في تشكيل الهوية.<br/>ويظهر هذا الخطاب بوضوح من خلال المذكرات التي كتبتها الإيرانية آذار نافيسي، والمغربية فاطمة مرنيسي، والمصرية لطيفة الزيات. تعكس الدراسة مرونة الموقفية إزاء النوع في الروايات الثلاث. هذه المذكرات هي آذار نافسيي،""قراءة لوليتا في طهران" (2003) ، و فاطمة مرنيسي، "شهرزاد ترحل غربًا: حضارات وحريم مختلفات" (2001) و لطيفة الزيات، "حملة تفتيش: أوراق شخصية"(1992) وترجمة صوفي بينيت. <br/>من هذا المنطلق، تستهدف هذه الدراسة استكشاف أهمية المذكرات باعتبارها اجترارًا لذكريات نساء يعدن تشكيل هويتهن ولا يلعب فيها الراوي في تلك المذكرات دور المشارك أو الشاهد فحسب، بل هن الذات العاكسة والمتأملة كذلك. وحين يلعب الراوي هذه الأدوار إنما يسلط الضوء على تطور الفكر النسوي المكاني وعلاقة الموقفية بالهوية بناء على فكرما بعد البنيوية . هذا إن دل يدل على إن النوع ليس هو المكون الوحيد للهوية في هذا البحث، إذ تتغير الهوية وتتشكل الذات متأثرة بمعطيات أخرى لها علاقة بالرؤى الزمكانية (المتعلقة بالزمان والمكان) المتعددة والمتغيرة |
