Commercial dog breeding has displayed various welfare and ethical concerns in recent years. Several studies have focused on issues including raising dogs in poor environments without attending to their behavioural and physical health needs, leading to adverse welfare consequences. Therefore, this research aimed to assess the dogs' health, behaviour, and welfare at twenty dog farms, representing fourteen breeding and six boarding facilities, including a total of 2267 dogs located in the Greater Cairo region (Cairo, Giza, and Qalyubia) in Egypt. The evaluation of the significance and development of the dog farm's welfare has been accomplished by using the Farm Quality Protocol, which is based on the Shelter Quality Protocol, to connect the elements influencing incomes and outcomes by including a sample size of 1145 dogs representing twenty-two different breeds, management systems, and facilities. Key findings indicated that the ideal score for body condition was substantially connected with the fresh diet type, time-restricted feeding, and daily exercise. The prevalence of certain health indices, such as skin lesions, has been affected by the type of floor and its suitability. A strong correlation was found between clean bedding types and a decreased chance of encountering dirty or damp dogs. Abnormal behaviours, such as anxiety, have been shown to be much higher when there is no enrichment in the facilities. To assess the personality traits of the 200 dogs in a similar region, the study used the dog personality questionnaire, which included five factors related to the age, breed, and sex groups from different breed groups. The findings of this study indicate that the dogs' mean levels of personality traits vary depending on their breed, sex, and age. For testing the temperament of dogs in the same area, this study used the American Temperament Test on 62 dogs of three various breed groups, including Cane Corso from the working group, 14 German Shepherds from the herding group, and 32 Griffons. Results show that the Griffons from the toy group had a significantly higher passing rate than the other two breed groups. In conclusion, by recognizing the welfare risks related to management and the environment, there is a chance for improvement to be made, reducing the risks and enhancing the welfare of dogs |

أظهرت تربية الكلاب التجارية العديد من الاهتمامات الاجتماعية والأخلاقية في السنوات الأخيرة. ركزت العديد من الدراسات على قضايا تشمل تربية الكلاب في بيئات فقيرة دون الاهتمام باحتياجاتهم الصحية السلوكية والجسدية، مما يؤدي إلى عواقب وخيمة على الرفاهة. ولذلك، يهدف هذا البحث إلى تقييم صحة الكلاب وسلوكها ورفاهتها في عشرين مزرعة، تمثل أربعة عشر مزرعة للتربية وستة بيوت إيواء، بإجمالي عدد 2267 كلبًا. تقع تلك المزارع في منطقة القاهرة الكبرى (القاهرة والجيزة والقليوبية) في مصر. تم تقييم أهمية وتطوير رفاهة مزرعة الكلاب باستخدام بروتوكول جودة المزرعة، والذي يعتمد على بروتوكول جودة المأوى، لربط العناصر المؤثرة على الدخل والنتائج من خلال تضمين حجم عينة يبلغ 1145 كلبًا يمثلون عشرين سلالة مختلفة وأنظمة إدارة ومرافق مختلفة. أشارت النتائج الرئيسية إلى أن النتيجة المثالية لحالة الجسم كانت مرتبطة بشكل كبير بنوع النظام الغذائي الطازج والتغذية المقيدة بالوقت والتمارين اليومية. إن انتشار بعض المؤشرات الصحية، مثل الآفات الجلدية، يتأثر بنوع الأرضية ومدى ملاءمتها. تم العثور على علاقة قوية بين أنواع الفراش النظيفة وانخفاض فرصة مواجهة الكلاب القذرة أو الرطبة. وقد تبين أن السلوكيات الشاذة، مثل القلق المفرط، تكون أعلى بكثير عندما لا يكون هناك إثراء في المرافق. ولتقييم السمات الشخصية لـ 200 كلب في منطقة مماثلة، استخدمت الدراسة استبيان شخصية الكلاب، والذي تضمن خمسة عوامل تتعلق بالعمر والسلالة ومجموعات الجنس من مجموعات سلالات مختلفة. تشير نتائج هذه الدراسة إلى أن متوسط مستويات سمات الشخصية لدى الكلاب يختلف باختلاف سلالتها وجنسها وعمرها. لاختبار مزاج الكلاب في نفس المناطق، استخدمت هذه الدراسة اختبار المزاج الأمريكي على 62 كلبًا من ثلاث مجموعات سلالات مختلفة، 16 "كان كورسو" من مجموعة العمل، و14"جيرمن شيبرد" من مجموعة الرعي، و32 "جريفون" من مجموعة الزينة. أظهرت النتائج أن الجريفون من مجموعة كلاب الزينة حققت معدلات نجاح أعلى بكثير من مجموعتي السلالات الأخريين. في الختام، من خلال التعرف على المخاطر الصحية المتعلقة بالإدارة والبيئة، هناك فرصة لإجراء التحسين وتقليل المخاطر وتعزيز رفاهة الكلاب. |
