| Summary, etc. | Background: Myogenic Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) is the most prevalent type of all TMD subtypes. It is a muscular disorder of the masticatory muscular system. Since several signs and symptoms might be presented in patients with myogenic TMD, it is imperative to comprehensively examine all of them. Purpose: This study aimed to make a conclusive descriptive examination of the musculoskeletal impairments of the myogenic TMD through assessment of orofacial pain, bite force, mandibular range of motion (ROM), Temporomandibular joint’s (TMJ) position sense, and orofacial quality of life. Also, the correlations between musculoskeletal impairments (pain, bite force, mandibular range of motion, and TMJ position sense) and orofacial quality of life in patients with myogenic TMD were examined as well. Subjects & Methods: Forty-two participants between the ages of 18 and 42 were enrolled for the current study and assigned into 2 groups, group A (N=21) included healthy subjects matched with group B (N=21) which included patients with myogenic TMD. An occlusal bite force meter was used to measure the maximum posterior bite on both sides for all of the Participants. TMJ’s position sense and mandibular ROM were measured using a digital vernier caliper. Orofacial pain was assessed using the Arabic version of the visual analogue scale (VAS-Ar) while the orofacial quality of life was assessed by the Arabic version of oral health impact profile-5(OHIP5-Ar). Results: The maximal bite force on the left and right sides, mouth opening, and retrusion ROM varied significantly between the groups, favoring the healthy group. On the other hand proprioception, lateral deviation, and protrusion ROM didn’t significantly differ between groups. There is a strong correlation only between the orofacial pain and orofacial quality of life jaw function in patients with myogenic TMD. Conclusion: In contrast to matched healthy subjects, patients with myogenic TMD presented with a variety of musculoskeletal abnormalities in terms of pain, decreased bite force, diminished mandibular ROM, and impaired orofacial functional disability. Pain is correlated with orofacial quality of life and jaw function as well. |

| Summary, etc. | الخلفية: اضطرابات الفك الصدغي العضلي هي النوع الأكثر انتشارًا بين جميع الأنواع الفرعية لاضطرابات الفك الصدغي. وهو اضطراب عضلي في الجهاز العضلي الماضغ. نظرًا لأنه قد تظهر العديد من العلامات والأعراض لدى المرضى الذين يعانون من اضطرابات الفك الصدغي العضلي، فمن الضروري فحصها جميعًا بشكل شامل. الغرض: تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى إجراء فحص وصفي قاطع للاضطرابات العضليه الهيكليه للاضطراب الفك الصدغي العضلي من خلال تقييم الألم الفموي الوجهي، وقوة العض، ونطاق حركة الفك السفلي، والشعور العميق بوضعية المفصل الصدغي الفكي، ونوعية الحياة الفموية الوجهية. أيضًا، تم فحص الارتباطات بين الاضطرابات العضلية الهيكلية (الألم، وقوة العض، ونطاق حركة الفك السفلي، والإحساس العميق بوضعية المفصل الصدغي الفكي) ونوعية الحياة الفموية الوجهية لدى المرضى الذين يعانون من اضطرابات الفك الصدغي العضلي المنشأ. الاشخاص والطرق: تم تسجيل اثنين وأربعين مشاركاً تتراوح أعمارهم بين 18 و 42 عاماً في الدراسة الحالية وتم تقسيمهم إلى مجموعتين، المجموعة أ (العدد = 21) شملت موضوعات صحية متطابقة في العمر والحنس مع المجموعة ب (العدد = 21) والتي شملت المرضى الذين يعانون من اضطرابات الفك الصدغي العضلي. تم استخدام مقياس قوة العض الإطباقي لقياس الحد الأقصى للعضة الخلفية على كلا الجانبين لجميع المشاركين. تم قياس إحساس موضع المفصل الفكي الصدغي ونطاق حركة الفك السفلي في كل الاتجاهات باستخدام الفرجار الرقمي. تم تقييم الألم الفموي الوجهي باستخدام النسخة العربية من المقياس التناظري البصري بينما تم تقييم جودة الحياة الفموية الوجهية من خلال النسخة العربية من ملف تعريف تأثير صحة الفم -5. النتائج: قوة العض القصوى على الجانبين الأيسر والأيمن، وفتح الفم، والتراجع الخلفي للفك السفلي تباينت بشكل كبير بين المجموعات، لصالح مجموعة الاصحاء. من ناحية أخرى، لم يختلف استقبال الحس العميق للفك السفلي، والانحراف الجانبي، والبروز الامامي للفك السفلي بشكل كبير بين المجموعات. هناك علاقة قوية فقط بين الألم الفموي الوجهي ونوعية وظيفة الفك في الحياة لدى المرضى الذين يعانون من اضطرابات الفك الصدغي العضلي. الاستنتاج: على النقيض من الأشخاص الأصحاء، فإن المرضى الذين يعانون من اضطرابات الفك الصدغي العضلي المنشأ يعانون من مجموعة متنوعة من الاضطرابات العضلية الهيكلية من حيث الألم، وانخفاض قوة العض، وتناقص نطاق حركة الفك السفلي في بعض الاتجاهات، والعجز الوظيفي الفموي الوجهي. يرتبط الألم فقط بنوعية الحياة الفموية الوجهية ووظيفة الفك أيضًا. |
