| Summary, etc. | Objective: To investigate and compare the effect of Maitland mobilization versus deep cervical flexors training and conventional physical therapy (CPT) on pain intensity, proprioception, cranio-vertebral angle (CVA), and upper cervical angle (C0-C2) in subjects with chronic mechanical neck pain (CMNP).<br/>Design: A randomized controlled study.<br/>Settings: Outpatient clinics of physical therapy at Cairo and Suez Universities.<br/>Participants: Sixty patients (27 males, 33 females) with chronic mechanical neck pain (CMNP) were assigned randomly into 3 equal groups. Age ranged from 18-45 years.<br/>Intervention: Maitland Mobilization grade II and III plus CPT (group I). Deep cervical flexors training plus CPT (group II). Conventional physical therapy (CPT) in form of (posture education, stretching Upper trapezius, levator scapulae and pectoralis muscles, strengthening rhomboids, lower trapezius and serratus anterior and home program) (group III). All participants received 3 sessions per week for 4 weeks.<br/>Main Outcome Measures: Visual analogue scale (VAS), proprioception, Cranio-vertebral angle (CVA) and upper cervical angle (C0-C2) were measured at baseline and after 4 weeks of intervention.<br/>Results: After 4 weeks of intervention, deep cervical flexors group showed superiorly to Maitland group and control group in all measured outcomes (p<0.05). Also, Maitland group showed superiorly to control group in all measured outcomes (p<0.05).<br/>Conclusion: Adding Maitland mobilization and deep cervical flexors training to CPT showed significant improvements in favor of deep cervical flexors training on pain intensity, proprioception, cranio-vertebral angle and upper cervical angle (C0-C2) than CPT alone in patients with CMNP.<br/>Keywords: Maitland mobilization, deep cervical flexors, chronic neck pain, cranio-vertebral angle, upper cervical angle, proprioception.<br/> |

| Summary, etc. | المقارنة بين تحريك ميتلاند مقابل تمرين العضلات العنقية العميقة بالإضافة الى العلاج الطبيعى التقليدى على الآلم، الحس العميق، زاوية القحف وزاوية الرقبة العليا (عنقية ٠ - عنقية 2)، على المرضى الذين يعانون من آلام الرقبة المزمنة. تم ادراء الدراسة فى العيادات الخارجية فى كلية العلاج الطبيعى بجامعة القاهرة فى الفترة من اكتوبر 2٠22 الى أبريل 2٠2٣.<br/>الاجراءات والأساليب:<br/>اجريت الدراسة على ستون مريضا من الجنسين ؛ 2٧رجل و ٣٣ سيدة يعانون من ألام الرقبة المزمنة تراوحت اعمارهم بين ١٨ الى 45 سنة تم توزيعهم عشوائيا الى ثلاثة مجموعات متساوية. تم قياس شدة الألم بالمقياس التمثيلى البصرى ، وتم قياس الحس العميق بواسطة جهاز قياس المدى الحركى للرقبة وقياس زاوية القحف و زاوية الرقبة العليا (عنقية ٠ - عنقية 2) بالكاميرا و برنامج العقل الإلكتروني kinovea ، تمت جميع التقييمات قبل وبعد اربعة اسابيع من العلاج.<br/> |
