Summary, etc. Background<br/>Type 1 diabetes mellitus can be considered as one of the most frequent endocrine and metabolic conditions in children. <br/>Betatrophin, also known as ANGPTL8, is a newly identified circulating protein predominantly produced in the liver and adipose tissue. Betatrophin is induced as a result of insulin resistance.<br/>The aim of our study to assess the betatrophin level in children and adolescents with T1DM and its relation to IR measured by eGDR and the relation of eGDR to with clinical data of patients including age, gender, body weight, BMI, diabetes duration, lipid profile and blood pressure<br/>Methods<br/>90 participants divided into 3 groups as follows: group (1) 30 prepubertal children and adolescents diagnosed with T1DM, group (2) 30 pubertal adolescents diagnosed with T1DM and group (3) 30 age- and sex-matched healthy children and adolescents as a control group. All participants completed the history and clinical examination, blood sugar (FBS) and 2 hours postprandial (2h PP) blood sugar, e GDR, HbA1c; mean of the last year and the last result, lipid profile, renal functions, albumin creatinine ratio, thyroid profile and Betatrophin assessment<br/>Results:<br/>Betatrophin was significantly higher in case groups than control groups. eGDR was significantly lower in case groups than control groups. So we found that T1DM groups had IR as they had significantly lower eGDR results and higher betetrophin results. So we can say that IR was a stimulator for betatrophin secretion. According to our study, There was negative correlation between eGDR and (Betatrophin, weight, weight SDS, BMI, WC, Hip C, NC, SBP, DBP, TC, TG and LDL) There was positive correlation between eGDR and height. In the current study, there was significant positive correlation between betatrophin and weight SDS, height and BMI SDS in cases groups there was no correlation between eGDR and height SDS, BMI.<br/>Conclusion <br/>Serum betatrophin increased in children with T1DM. Betatrophin is significantly correlated to IR. DM and IR stimulate betatrophin secretion.

Summary, etc. السكرى النوع الاول هو احد امراض المناعة الذاتية المزمنة التى تتأثر بالعوامل الوراثية والبيئية. <br/>ينتج السكرى النوع الاول عن تدمير المناعة الذاتية لخلايا بيتا فى جزء الغدد الصماء من البنكرياس. <br/>قد يكون سبب تطور مقاومة الانسولين فى السكرى النوع الاول هو العديد من عوامل الخطر بين الاستعداد الوراثى للفرد واسلوب حياته. <br/>يتم تعريف مقاومة الانسولين على انها انخفاض فاستجابة الانسجة للعمليات الخلوية التى يتوسط فيها الانسولين والتى قد تكون ناجمة عن عدة اسباب مثل زيادة الانسجة الدهنية، وهى مقاومة الانسولين من الناحية الفسيولوجية. <br/>البيتاتروفين هو بروتين منتشر تم تحديده حديثا ويتم انتاجه فالغالب فالكبد والانسجة الدهنية، يتم تحفيز البيتاتروفين نتيجة لمقاومة الانسولين. <br/>الهدف من دراستنا هو تقييم مستوى البيتاتروفين لدى الاطفال والمراهقين الذين يعانون من السكرى النوع الاول وعلاقته بمقاومة الانسولين، وعلاقة مقاومة الانسولين بالبيانات السريرية للمرضى بما فى ذلك العمر والجنس ووزن الجسم ومؤشر كتلة الجسم ومدة مرض السكرى وملف الدهون وضغط الدم. <br/>كانت دراستنا عبارة عن دراسة مقطعية. أجريت على 90 مشاركا تم تقسيمهم الى 3 مجموعات . مجموعة (1) مكونة من 30 طفلا ومراهقا فى مرحلة ما قبل البلوغ تم تشخيص اصابتهم بمرض السكرى النوع الاول ومتابعين فى وحدة الغدد الصماء والسكر للأطفال، جامعة القاهرة ووحدة الغدد الصماء للأطفال فى مستشفى سوهاج العام، المجموعة (2) مكونة من 30 مراهقا فى سن البلوغ تم تشخيص اصابتهم بالسكرى النوع الاول والمجموعة (3) مكونة من 30 من الاطفال والمراهقين الاصحاء المتطابقين مع العمر والجنس كمجموعة مراقبة من العيادة العامة للأطفال.
