| Summary, etc. | Purpose: This study was conducted to compare the therapeutic efficacy of Pilates exercise versus manual lymphatic drainage on axillary web syndrome post-mastectomy. Subjects and methods: Sixty-eight patients underwent radical mastectomy participated in this study. Their ages ranged from 35 to 55 years. They were selected from National Cancer Institute, Cairo University and divided randomly into two groups equal in number. Group (A): 34 patients received 30 min Pilates exercise 3 times per week in addition to selected physical therapy program for 18 weeks. While, Group (B): 34 patients received 30 min Manual lymphatic drainage massage 3 times per week in addition to selected physical therapy program (strength, core stability, flexibility, muscle control, posture and breathing) for 18 weeks. Shoulder pain was evaluated by Visual Analogue Scale and Shoulder range of motion was evaluated by Electronic goniometer before and after the intervention and measuring disability of the (arm, shoulder and hand) by disability of the arm, shoulder and hand questionnaire. Results: This study revealed that there was a statistically highly significant improvement in VAS and shoulder range of motion of group (B) when compared with its corresponding value in group (A). Conclusion: Manual lymphatic drainage was more effective than Pilates exercise in improvement of shoulder pain and ROM in axillary web syndrome post-mastectomy patients. |

| Summary, etc. | الغرض: أجريت هذه الدراسة لمقارنة الفعالية العلاجية لتمرين البيلاتيس مقابل التصريف اللمفاوي اليدوي في متلازمة الويب الإبطية بعد استئصال الثدي. <br/>الطرق والأساليب: شارك في هذه الدراسة ثمانية وستون مريضة خضعت لعملية استئصال الثدي الجذري. وتراوحت أعمارهم بين 35 إلى 55 عاما. تم اختيارهم من المعهد القومي للأورام بجامعة القاهرة وتم تقسيمهم عشوائياً إلى مجموعتين متساويتين في العدد. المجموعة (أ): 34 مريضاً تلقوا تمرين البيلاتس لمدة 30 دقيقة 3 مرات أسبوعياً بالإضافة إلى برنامج علاج طبيعي مختار لمدة 18 أسبوع. بينما المجموعة (ب): 34 مريضاً تلقوا تدليكاً يدوياً للتصريف اللمفاوي لمدة 30 دقيقة 3 مرات أسبوعياً بالإضافة إلى برنامج علاج طبيعي مختار (القوة، ثبات الجذع، المرونة، التحكم في العضلات، الوضعية والتنفس) لمدة 18 أسبوع. تم تقييم آلام الكتف بواسطة مقياس التناظرية البصرية وتم تقييم المدى الحركي للكتف بواسطة مقياس الزوايا الإلكتروني قبل وبعد التدخل وقياس إعاقة (الذراع والكتف واليد) عن طريق استبيان DASH. <br/>النتائج: كشفت هذه الدراسة أن هناك تحسنا كبيرا إحصائيا في خدمات القيمة المضافة والكتف والمدي الحركي للكتف للمجموعة (ب) بالمقارنة مع قيمتها المقابلة في المجموعة (أ). <br/>الاستنتاج: كان التصريف اللمفاوي اليدوي أكثر فعالية من تمرين البيلاتس في تحسين آلام الكتف والمدى الحركي للكتف لدى مرضى متلازمة الويب الإبطية بعد استئصال الثدي. |
