| Summary, etc. | Aim: This study assessed the peroxide levels in saliva during bleaching with 9.5% hydrogen peroxide using trays with or without a reservoir.<br/>Methodology: A total of 34 patients meeting the eligibility criteria were randomly assigned to intervention and comparator groups. The intervention group received customized trays with 1.5 mm-thick reservoirs created on the facial surfaces of anterior teeth, while the comparator group received trays without reservoirs. Bleaching procedures involved applying a standardized quantity of 0.350-g of bleaching gel inside the trays, which were worn for 30 minutes, with precautions taken to protect the gingival tissues. Saliva was collected at 1, 5, 10 and 30-minutes intervals during the procedure, and excess gel was removed. The salivary samples were measured at 534 nm by using a spectrophotometer. Data were statistically analyzed using Medcalc software, version 22 for windows (MedCalc Software Ltd, Ostend, Belgium).<br/><br/>Results: There was a statistically significant difference in the level of peroxide in saliva between different time points at 1, 5, 10, 30 minutes in both groups as P≥ 0.05. In addition, a statistically significant difference was observed when comparing peroxide levels in saliva for the intervention and for the comparator groups. It was evident that peroxide levels in saliva for the trays with reservoir were significantly less than for the trays without reservoir for all tested time points as P≥ 0.0001.<br/>Conclusions: Lower peroxide levels in saliva are obtained when using trays with reservoir for at home bleaching, which ensures its safety regarding toxic effects. However, using trays without reservoir is also considered safe as the peroxide levels detected for both groups were below the toxic dose. |

| Summary, etc. | هناك العديد من الأشكال المختلفة لصينية التبييض والتي تشمل الخزانات، أو الحواف الصدفية، أو القطع المستقيمة مع هامش اللثة الممتد. يخدم الخزان الغرض الأساسي المتمثل في إنشاء مساحة بين سطح الأسنان والصينية، مما يسمح بكمية كبيرة من جل التبييض بالتلامس مع بنية الأسنان. يشعر الباحثون والممارسون بالقلق بشأن التأثيرات السمية المحتملة لبيروكسيد الهيدروجين عندما يتلامس مع الأنسجة الرخوة أو إذا تم ابتلاعه. ركزت العديد من الدراسات على مشاكل ابتلاع هلام التبييض واحتمال إطلاق البيروكسيد في اللعاب. أجريت تجارب سريرية نادرة لدراسة أهمية تصميم صينية التبييض على مستوى البيروكسيد في اللعاب. كان هذا هو الأساس المنطقي لإجراء هذه التجربة السريرية العشوائية لتقييم مستويات البيروكسيد في اللعاب بعد التبييض باستخدام بيروكسيد الهيدروجين في عامل التبييض المنزلي باستخدام صواني بها خزانات وصواني بدون خزانات.<br/>كان الهدف من هذه التجربة هو تقييم مستوى البيروكسيد في اللعاب أثناء إجراء التبييض بنسبة 9.5% من بيروكسيد الهيدروجين في المنزل باستخدام صينية مع أو بدون خزان. أجريت هذه التجربة السريرية العشوائية على 29 مشاركًا ممن استوفوا معايير التأهل لهذه التجربة. تم جمعها من المترددين على عيادة قسم طب الأسنان التحفظي بكلية طب الأسنان جامعة القاهرة. قسم المشاركون عشوائيًا إلى مجموعتين: تلقت مجموعة المقارنة بيروكسيد الهيدروجين بنسبة 9.5% مع صينية بدون خزان مصنوعة من صفائح خلات الفينيل الناعمة مقاس 1 مم، وتلقت مجموعة التدخل على 9.5% بيروكسيد الهيدروجين مع صينية خزان مصنوعة من صفائح خلات الفينيل الناعمة مقاس 1.5 مم.. تم جمع العينات وتقيم مستوى البيروكسيد في اللعاب عند دقيقة واحدة، وبعد 5 دقائق ، و10 دقائق، و30 دقيقة . قيمت العينات بواسطة مقيم لايعلم المجموعتان باستخدام مقياس الطيف الضوئي التحليلي.<br/>كشفت النتائج أن هناك فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية في مجموعة الخزان ومجموعة بدون الخزان ، والمقارنة داخل المجموعة بين نقاط زمنية مختلفة. أظهر التبييض باستخدام صينية مع خزان تركيزًا أقل من البيروكسيد في اللعاب مقارنة بالتبييض باستخدام صينية بدون خزان. <br/>في الختام، أدى استخدام الصواني مع الخزان إلى انخفاض مستوى البيروكسيد في اللعاب بالمقارنة مع المجموعة بدون خزان ويعتبر استخدام الصواني بدون الخزان آمنا حيث أن مستويات البيروكسيد المكتشفة لكلا المجموعتين كانت أقل من الجرعة السامة. |
