520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Aim: This randomized clinical trial aimed to investigate the clinical performance of
PALFIQUE universal adhesive (Tokuyama self-cure universal adhesive), Versus 3M ESPE™
Single bond Universal Adhesive, for restoring class V cavities in geriatric patients over one year.
Methodology: A total of 28 geriatric participants randomly received 28 cervical carious
restorations using either; PALFIQUE universal adhesive (Tokuyama self-cure universal adhesive)
the intervention or 3M ESPE™ Single bond Universal Adhesive as the comparator. After cavity
preparation, all cavities were etched using etch-and-rinse technique, then the universal adhesives
the resin composite were utilized according to the manufacturer instructions. Restorations were
evaluated using modified USPHS criteria by two blinded assessors at baseline, 3, 6. 9 and 12
months. They were analysed using Mann-Whitney U test for intergroup comparisons while
intragroup comparisons were done using Friedman‘s test followed by Nemenyi post hoc test. The
significance level was set at p ≤0.05 within all tests.
Results: After 12 months there was no statistically significant difference between both
materials regarding marginal adaptation, retention, marginal discoloration, post-operative
hypersensitivity and secondary caries (P= 0.769, P=1, P = 0.796, P = 1, P = 1) respectively.
Conclusion: The use of PALFIQUE universal adhesive (Tokuyama self-cure universal
adhesive) is approved to show a similar clinical performance compared to 3M ESPE™ Single bond
light-cure Universal Adhesive
