Summary, etc. The development of genetic biomarkers in different chronic diseases has <br/>focused on assisting in diagnosis and monitoring disease complications. <br/>Receptor for advanced glycated end products (RAGE) gene <br/>polymorphism has been implicated previously in type 2 diabetes mellitus <br/>pathophysiology and its complications, particularly diabetic nephropathy. <br/>Objective: To assess single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) of RAGE <br/>gene at rs 1800625 (-429 T> C) among type 2 diabetic patients and to <br/>investigate the relationship between this polymorphism and diabetic <br/>nephropathy. <br/>Methods: In a case control analytical study including 370 subjects; 185 <br/>T2DM patients complicated with nephropathy and 185 T2DM patients <br/>without nephropathy as control subjects. All T2DM patients were <br/>subjected to assessment of nephropathy according to ACR, serum <br/>creatinine and e-GFR and assessment of gene polymorphism at rs <br/>1800625 (-429T > C). <br/>Outcome measures: to assess the relation between RAGE gene <br/>polymorphism and Diabetic nephropathy in T2DM. <br/>Results: there was no significant difference between the 2 groups of our <br/>study (T2DM with and without nephropathy) regarding Allelic <br/>discrimination of RAGE gene at rs 1800625 (-429T > C). Also, there <br/>was no statistically significant relation between ACR, e-GFR, serum <br/>creatinine, FBS, HBA1C and allelic discrimination of RAGE gene at <br/>rs1800625 -429 T > C. <br/>Conclusion: There was no association between rage gene polymorphism <br/>at rs 1800625 (-429T > C) and diabetic nephropathy in type 2 diabetes <br/>mellitus.

Summary, etc. الهدف من هذه الدراسة هو الكشف عن تعدد أشكال أحادي النوكليوتيداتSNP)) في جين RAGE عند rs1800624 في مرضى السكري من النوع 2 وعلاقته باعتلال الكلى السكري. أجريت دراسة الحالة والشواهد هذه على 370 مريضًا بالسكري من النوع 2 مصاب أو غير مصاب باعتلال الكلى السكري (185 مريضا في كل مجموعة).<br/>النتائج: لم يكن هناك فرق كبير بين مجموعتين من دراستنا (T2DM مصاب أو غير مصاب باعتلال الكلى) من حيث تعدد الأشكال لجين الـ RAGE عند rs 1800625 (-429T>C).<br/>وعليه استنتجنا أنه لا يوجد ارتباط بين تعدد أشكال جين الـRAGE عند rs 1800625 -429T>C واعتلال الكلى السكري في داء السكري من النوع 2.<br/>
