Summary, etc. This thesis discusses the performance of a Microbial desalination cell (MDC), which <br/>is a modern system that aims at combining wastewater treatment along with desalination, <br/>in removing different selected heavy metals (which are Iron, Manganese, and Zinc) under <br/>different operating conditions (temperatures, concentrations, and different pH of anodic <br/>solution). Performance of the MDC when adding the selected metals to the middle chamber <br/>was compared to that of the conventional MDC which includes sodium chloride salt <br/>solution in the desalination chamber. Performance indicators of the system, to assess the <br/>efficiency of the MDC, were measured; such as chemical oxygen demand (COD), voltage, <br/>removal efficiencies of heavy metals’ concentrations, and percentage of salt reduction.

Summary, etc. تناقش هذه الرسالة أداء خلايا التحلية الميكروبية (وهو نظام حديث يهدف إلى الجمع بين معالجة مياه الصرف الصحي جنبا إلى جنب مع تحلية المياه المالحة) في إزالة أنواع مختاره من المعادن الثقيلة المختلفة في ظل ظروف تشغيلية مختلفة (درجات حرارة مختلفة ، وتركيزات مختلفة من المعادن الثقيلة، والأس الهيدروجيني للمحلول الأنودي). المعادن الثقيلة المختارة في الدراسة هي الحديد، والمنجنيز، والزنك، وتمت مقارنة أداء خلايا التحلية الميكروبية عند إضافة المعادن المختارة إلى غرفة التحلية (الغرفة الوسطى) مع أداء خلايا التحلية الميكروبية التقليدية التي تشمل محلول ملح كلوريد الصوديوم في غرفة تحلية المياه. تم قياس مؤشرات أداء النظام ، لتقييم كفاءة خلايا التحلية الميكروبية؛ مثل الأكسجین الكیمیائي الممتص (COD) ، والجهد الكهربائي ، وكفاءة إزالة تركيزات المعادن الثقيلة، ونسبة إزالة الملح.<br/><br/>
