Summary, etc. This thesis is a study of voltage controlled oscillators (VCOs) Different architectures of VCOs are reviewedThe parameters used to evaluate the VCO are definedMethods used to improve VCO are discussedDifferent topologies of QVCO are discussed and simulated The simulations are performed using Advanced Design System 2002 (ADS) Using BSIM3 v31 model and 025 , 035 , and 013 CMOS processThe layout of the inductor is done using HFSSThe oscillation frequency of developed BS - QVCO can be tuned between 505 - 588 GHz with phase noise - 1272 dBc / Hz over the tuning range , power consumption 156 mw from 13V voltage supply , and figure of merit of 1 90 dB
