Summary, etc. |
Background: Obesity, especially central obesity is an important risk factor for the development many of diseases heavily predispose to cardiovascular disease as diabetes mellitus type 2, high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, and triglyceride levels (combined hyperlipidemia). Reflexology is acoplementry therapy based on the principles that there are reflexes in the feet and hands that correspond to all organs, glands, and parts of the body. Its goal is to encourage the release of blockages/congestion in and around the nerve endings in the feet and hands while stimulating circulation and improving nerve and blood supply throughout the entire energy system. The- purpose: to determine the effect of foot reflexology on cortisol stress hormone in obese females. Subjects and methods: Twenty obese females participated in this study including class I or class II obesity with BMI ranged from 30 to 39.9 and waist circumference {u2265}88 cm. Their age ranged from 20 to 30 years. All females received foot reflexology (right and left foot) |
