520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. The objective of this study was to optimize the cognitive abilities in hemiplegic children and to investigate whether this optimization would have an influence on the improvement of their hand functionsMeanwhile , attempts to improve hand functions of hemiplegic children were done to explore and evaluate any concomitant improvement occurred in their cognitionFifty spastic hemiplegic cerebral palsied children ; whose ages range from six to nine years ; were selected to participate in this investigation , divided randomly into two groups (A and B) of equal numberAll hemiplegic children were evaluated before and after the rehabilitation program specified for each group which continued for six monthsLevels of attention and concentration beside minimal and maximal reaction time of attention and concentration of the hemiplegic children were evaluated through application of Rehacom System , whereas hand functions evaluation procedures were conducted by means of the Peabody Developmental Motor Scale - second edition (PDMS - 2) , taking grasping and visual motor integration subtests as main end pointsGroup Awas subjected to hand functions rehabilitation program using tasks selected from PDMS - 2 , while group Breceived hand functions rehabilitation program in combination with attention and concentration rehabilitation program using the RehaCom systemThe results of the study clarified that improvement in the levels of attention and concentration led to enhancement of fine motor skills of the hemiplegic childrenConversely , hand functions improvement in hemiplegic children resulted in obvious augmentation in their levels of attention and concentration , provided that the improvement occurred due to combined cognitive and hand functions rehabilitation programs always exceeded that of hand functions rehabilitation program alone
