Aim of this work: To asses' clinical feature, co-morbidities and quality of life in patients with primary knee osteoarthritis (OA) and its correlation with body mass index (BMI) and radiographic severity. Patients and methods: This study included 250 patients suffering from primary knee OA diagnosed according to American college of rheumatology (ACR) classification criteria for OA. All participants were subjected to full history taking, thorough clinical examination, and functional capacity was assessed by using western ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis index (WOMAC) that measures pain, stiffness and physical function of patients suffering from OA. Quality of life was measured using Nottingham Health Profile (NHP) which consists of two parts, part 1 measures subjective physical mobility, emotional reactions, social isolation, pain, energy and sleep aspects of health while part 2 measures seven areas of life that are most affected by health status. Also Laboratory investigations were done and radiological examination to compare between moderate and severe OA by using kellegran and lawrence scale (KL) that divides the degree of severity of OA from 0-4 subdivisions, and pain assessment that the patient with OA suffers from by using visual analogue scale (VAS) giveing it 0-10 degree. Results: The functional capacity was affected as regard to pain and more severely affected as regard to stiffness and physical function when comparing between moderate and severe OA patients, also health related quality of life (HRQOL) is more affected in patients with severe OA than that of patients with moderate OA when measuring by NHP.
