Summary, etc. | This experiment was carried out at Central Laboratory for Agricultural Climate (CLAC), Agricultural Research Centre, Dokki, Giza governorate, Egypt during two successive seasons of 2012 and 2013, to investigate the influence of humic acid, magnetite and mycorrhizae as well as their interactions on basil plant growing under different levels of chemical fertilizer (0, 50,100% NPK) on growth characters (plant height, number of branches, leaf area and leaves number), yield of fresh and dry herb, oil yield and its components as well as chemical composition symbolized in ( plant pigments, protein in herb and root, total carbohydrates in herb and root, N, P, K, Ca, Mn, Fe, Zn) of basil plants. The obtained results showed that, using magnetite , humic acid and mycorrhizae under full dose of NPK increased all growth parameters (plant height, number of branches, leaf area, leaves number, herb fresh and air dry weights) and oil percentage in herb compared to the other treatments. Basil plants treated with mycorrhizae, magnetite and humic acid under full dose of NPK treatment gave the highest number of yield of basil plants as compared to the other treatments. Also, using magnetite + humic acid + mycorrhizae under half dose of NPK conditions significantly increased all data collected over the control treatment (plant received full recommended dose of NPK alone). Furthermore, biological data indicated that, mycorrhizae infection, number of spores and mycorrhizal dependency recorded an increment with humic acid and magnetite combinations in comparison with other treatments. This result definitely specifies the importance of magnetite, humic acid and mycorrhizae combinations which have many roles in improving basil plants production. Hence these treatments could replace partially the application of chemical fertilizers in production of basil plant and varieties of other medicinal plant and consequently minimize the pollution of agricultural environment |
