Summary, etc. Prevalence of contagious agents in whole blood and blood products is a worldwide problem. These products are of great importance to hepatic , hemophilic and autoimmune patients . Safety of blood products is one of the major infection control measures. The present work aimed to evaluate the inactivation potentials of Ýeta propiolactone [BPL] used as 0.0035 M and Ascorbic acid [AA] used as 1.5 / 3 mM activated with 5 Mmol/mm cupper sulphate. Also, monitoring the consequent changes in biological activity of plasma constituents post chemical treatment. Plasma pool from blood bank attendant [BBA] were tested for infectious agents including Hepatitis B , C and Immune Deficiency Syndrome virus (HIV) using PCR and ELISA for Antigen and antibody detection. Infectious viruses free plasma was artificially contaminated with Vesicular Stomatitis virus[VSV]. Artificially infected plasma aliquots were kept at +4oC and 37oC and samples were collected at 15 minutes interval in case of BPL and 1 hr in case of AA treated plasma. Treated plasma was processed for inactivation kinetics using cell culture. Plasma profile was monitored using electrophoresis and coagulation factors were tested using special kits. Our results showed that virucidal activity, data recorded revealed that BPL was significantly faster inactivating agent;[~3hr] [P<0.05] than AA[~24hr] and inactivation depends on thermal condition, time and molarities dependent. Also, Bio-activity of coagulation factors IIIV , IX , PT and aPTT were not significantly influenced [P>0.05] in case of treatment at 37oC than in case of treatment at +4oC, and despite the detected changes of the biological activity, its values were maintained within the normal ranges. Electrophoresis analysis showed that albumin , and G globulin were not influenced significantly post treatment with BPL ,1.5 and 3 mM Ascorbic acid [P>0.05] , accompanied with a moderate depletion rate of Ü1 and Ü2 detected 48 and 72 hr post treatment with Ascorbic acid at 1.5 and 3 mM at +4oC , while a significant change of Ý-globulin was detected post AA 1.5 and 3 mM treatment at 37oC. Finally it can be concluded that BPL and AA can be used as virucidal agents for recycling of infected plasma and maintaining almost the whole bioactivity of plasma constituents
